PR-0927
Right, so I need help from all the computer geeks, LOL. Recently, I downloaded the MSN Messenger Plus 3! or whatever thing. I uninstalled it because it was annoying. But, now, Mozilla Firefox is slowing down...and freezes at intervals sometimes. This never happened before. Also, when I log in, the C:/ drive folder window randomly pops up every time. WHY? LOL, and how do I fix this? We had an Earthlink toolbar on Internet Explorer too (I don't use it, I just noticed when I did a Windows Update), but now it's still the weird MSN Messenger Plus 3! or whatever toolbar. And, when Mozilla Firefox was lagging once, I saw some .exe file being run called..."cake something.exe" or something... How do I fix all of this? What's happening? - Majin Revan

PR-0927
O.K., I am currently doing a scan, and I found one thing: classload.jar-19061f19-4f5bdba9.zip Whatever that means. I deleted it. It was detected as Exploit-ByteVerify, and the detection type is Trojan. I hope that's the only one. - Majin Revan
Mex
My firefox randomly freezes sometimes, and Internet explorer. I'm gonna run a virus check and a spyware check now. I've uninstalled all of the needless junk from my pc and it's gotten a little better.

I havent heard of the MSN Messenger Plus Toolbar, was it legit(MS certified) ?? anyway, if you have the option to, uninstall that as well... also, make sure you get a registry cleaner. Alot of people find the offending file on their HD and just delete that. Many create registry entries as well, and that it what can slow your system down especially at startup. So ontop of the ad aware and antivirus and spyware scans you'll do, make sure you do a registry sweep. An OK free cleaner is TweakNow's reg cleaner... also, if its just the browsers that are acting slow, uninstall and reinstall them. Things like third party tool bars can mess them up sometimes(especially after theyve been removed)... To uninstall/reinstall IE, you'll need to go into your add/remove programs options, and go into the "Add Remove windows components" link and do it from in there. Nb. you can try leaving IE uninstalled, but it actually is never fully uninstalled in XP, which is sorta creepy mtfbwya
RoxStar
My firefox kept crashing when I was using a mouse with a scroll wheel to open close diffrerent tabs. Maybe its the version I was running?
PR-0927
Well, that was the only virus found. I deleted it after cleaning it failed (it was moved to C:/QUARANTINE). I use McAfee ViruScan Enterprise 8.0.0. I also have SpyBot and Microsoft AntiSpyware (which does nothing). I just downloaded Tweak Now! and will use it shortly. My C:/ drive folder window still pops up for no reason at all. I uninstalled and removed the MSN Messenger Plus 3! thing a few days ago, but the toolbar still exists on IE. Also, my Mozilla Firefox still freezes. Thanks, and wish me luck. - Majin Revan
RoxStar
type "msconfig" into the run thingy and see if anything unusual is starting when you first strt up windows.
PR-0927
LOL, I have no clue what that does, really... By the way, are there any other VERY good anti virus programs besides what I already have (written in my last post)? - Majin Revan
RoxStar
I use AVG Free. It works for me. go to Start -> Run -> msconfig and then list the programs that start when your computer does.
