james975
I'm trying to give the KOTOR games a more cinematic feel to them and taking some of the John Williams music from the Prequel Trilogy and trying to apply it to some cinematic scenes in the game. Does anyone know of a program that allows me to select certain parts from a song and save them as a completely new .mp3 file that I can then convert into a WAV file? One last thing. I have a great music replacement for the music for EVIL ENDING of KOTOR. Can anyone explain to me how I would get my file to play when that scene comes on. I'm very new to this whole modding thing. I only heard about it 2 days ago and this is my first post. Please bare with me while I experience growing pains. I'd love to find out how to get better at this stuff. Anyways. thanks a lot. TheOssusKeeper
well for the first, i personally use sony sound forge 7.0b to do a lot of my sound/music editing... you can edit the length, volume and various other things with it, even short or make clips of other songs and save them as .mp3 or as .wav.... for the last one, i have no idea, sorry... Darth333
You can save them in .mp3 format. However, just be careful with the copyrights issue if you intend to release your mod. Check this thread for more info concerning music tracks: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=150387
stingerhs
first, you'll need an audio editor to get the job done right. freeware editor: http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/index.html trial based: http://www.goldwave.com/downloads/gwave510.exe second, i have a handy guide to the music files in the game that are located in the StreamMusic folder. just a note: you'll have to replace the files in the StreamMusic folder, so unless you want to reinstall the game to get them back, i suggest you make a backup folder with copies of the original files. third, its been my experience that only .mp3's work with the game, so make sure you save your files under that format. fourth, if you are using ripped tracks from a CD, you can forget about releasing your custom tracks to the public. i've looked up several documents that state that doing so is a violation of Copyright Laws (which is also why i haven't released my soundtrack as a mod). hope that helps. General Kenobi
fourth, if you are using ripped tracks from a CD, you can forget about releasing your custom tracks to the public. i've looked up several documents that state that doing so is a violation of Copyright Laws (which is also why i haven't released my soundtrack as a mod). Man how fast would the forum get in trouble for releasing "free" music Still a very good idea. I would have loved a MOD that replaced the stock music with John William's own. Thanks for that text file but right now I am actually modding KOTOR 1 music with the John Williams music. The dark ending has been changed completely and boy does it fit well together when all those ships are being manufactured from the Star Forge. I wish I could release this mod.
