Jeff
My friend has been trying to convince me to buy CS for a while now, and I'm wanting some of your opinions. Anybody here have it? What do you think of it? Currently I'm pretty short on cash, so I don't want to waste it on something that I won't play a lot.
Snafu7
Well, if you're talking about CS:S, it is pretty fun, and it's bundled with HL2, so it's a great buy, I haven't played any other versions of it besides CS:Condition Zero, and it was ok, not great though. lukeiamyourdad
If you're stuck with a 56K modem and a lousy computer, yes, it's worth it to buy the old Counter Strike. It does depend on the price though. But if you have more cash and a good computer, CS:Source would be best.
REDJOHNNYMIKE
I tried it a couple times, everyone on there was always mumbling through their mics?
JediKnight707
Buy the damn thing is all I can say!!! Trust me if you want a game that you will dream about, this is definalty the game for you! I absolutly love this game, and it has kept me playing for like ever!!!! If you have 56k, I wouldn't buy it, I tried playing it on a 56k modem...and lets just say it was not a plesent expierence. But if you are going for HL2/CSS, I would go for it! HL2 is one of my favorite games ever, and CSS never gets old! My advice: GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lukeiamyourdad
Uh...the old Counter Strike works fine on a 56K. That's why it's still popular today. However, Counter Strike has also a very bad reputation of being the biggest community of assholes in the history of gaming. From "L337" to "N00B5", Counter Strike has always been a hive for the evil anti-gamers. But today, things are different. It's been a while since I last played so I can't say. stingerhs
But today, things are different. It's been a while since I last played so I can't say.surprise, surprise: in reality, things actually haven't changed a lot. the l33t-crowd still regularly punish, humiliate, and generally wipe out the whole new flood of n00bs that are coming in thanks to Valve pushing the old CS games onto the market with new promotional stuff. most of the n00bs i've watched give up early in disgust while a few attempt to get things going only to find themselves rooted out by the l33t5. occasionally you'll find a server where the l33t guys aren't so bad, but those are few and far between. its not near as bad on the CS:S servers since most of the 'migrators' seem to act a with a lot less bigotry, but the problem still exists to an extent. still, there is a reason why i don't bother with any of the CS games anymore, and the simple explanation is all the other l33t guys that don't know the meaning of sportsmanship. it just saps all the fun right out of it. thats my two pennies, anyway. *shrugs*
