nope, i use XP, i tried Linux RedHat once upon a time, it was ok... but i was more knowledgeable about the Windoz OS's then the linux one's so i stuck with the Win OS's...

O_o well I have an advantage to knowing both so I'm sticking with my dual boot system

I wouldn't call myself a "fan" of any OS. It's a tool used for a purpose and hardly something that would inspire that kind of reverence. :)

I did have Linux (Redhat I believe) installed alongside Windows for a while on my old PC. I did however find it lacking, or rather found my ability lacking to use it for anything meaningful, and didn't bother to re-install it when I bought a new PC.

For a dumb end user like me Linux is head-spinningly complicated to configure properly, and even though you can put a graphical front end on top to conceal most of it, the "hardcore tech geek" parts (no offense intended towards linux users, I can't find the proper word in english for what I mean) make themselves known all too often. I don't think I would have gotten it to work on my old PC if I didn't have some linux-using friends who helped me install it. :)

Windows feels a lot more user friendly to people like me who don't know how all the technical stuff behind the scenes work, and it feels more polished and safe. Besides, most of my applications and games don't have Linux versions so I will stick with Windows for now. :)

I'm going to assume when you say "safe" you mean in terms of you working it.

You should probably give Ubuntu a shot. It's nice and straight forward.
