Guest DarthMaulUK
Having been playing Dawn of War and the new expansion, left me hoping that the ground battles in Empire At War would take a smiliar role. DoW is all about brute force and the graphics are stunning. You can zoom in 3d right into the action whilst not having to worry about chopping wood - resource management is easy - by capturing strategic points on the map. We've been told that EaW isnt about creating two massive armies and then having a battle so maybe we can expect a population limit (like in DoW,which works well) For AI - it has to come from Rome Total War - winning a battle whilst outnumbered can be achieved in this game and its one of the few games where strategy actual makes a difference. Space is tricky but I think it would have to draw some elements from Rebellion/Supremacy - perhaps one of the most underrated games of its time. Graphically challenged but that didnt stop the game having so much depth to it and genuine exctimenet as you manage your planets and then suddenly you discover that your enemy is attacking a planet or fleet. My friend still wanted to see my face, the first time I experienced the Death Star destroy a planet he couldnt capture as poor Han was stranded but managed to escape! If you could pick some elements from other RTS titles, what would they be? DMUK
Jan Gaarni
The ability to go anywhere in space. Ala Imperium Galactica. In fact, I think the Imperium Galactica games would be perfect for Star Wars. Great games really, I loved the first one, with all the customizations you could do to your ships, and the story that revolved around it. But I hated the space battles, they totally sucked. Space battles in number 2 was much better made. The ground battles was always good in both. But the limitation on the customization of ships and the limit of shipdesigns was a total letdown. That and the total lack of story.
Naja
I hope that there isn't in fact a population limit. Just wouldn't feel right in the Star Wars universe. There are a lot of other ways to prevent a congealed "super army" from becoming the primary tactic. The best one, of course, is something we know of already - the vast reaches of space! If your territory is so large, and everywhere can be reached from anywhere like in Rebellion, massed fleets in one location will leave you very vulnerable elsewhere. You couldn't risk it. popcorn2008
I would prefer a population limit, because I can still see players massing huge armies. Although this may not be really part of the game, I really want a recording feature like the one in C&C Generals where you could have an interactable recording, so you could look at battles not from the exact view you played them in. swphreak
None of the above. I like that they're making the game from scratch. If they were to add anything, I wish the space combat was like Homeworld 2. That would be the ultimate Star Wars Space RTS.

Fine and while you allow them to crush that single planets they send it all to, you can sneak in and take four or five of their under-defended planets. Slave.
I agree with popcorn, recording your games and reviewing them really helps with refining your strategies. Showing them to other people can give you another perspective on your game and they may point out something you didn't notice
popcorn2008
Fine and while you allow them to crush that single planets they send it all to, you can sneak in and take four or five of their under-defended planets. Not everything is black and white. If you let people make massive armies, they may not take that approach. In Rebellion, for example, I usually divide the galaxy into four sections, and devote one planet in each section for constructing massive ship armies. So, essentially I had four massive armies. And when the enemy did what you say, captured four or five planets, I just recaptured them. Then I would place my armies at locations the enemy would probably attack, and then when the smaller enemy fleet arrives bam. It really helps to have an interdictor or two for back up. Without pop. limits, games also tend to become whoever has the biggest army. That's not how I like to play personally.
Sithxace
I think all they have to do is use the same interface as Starwars Rebellion.. except add graphics to the unterface, ujse top notch graphics for ground/space battles, and just add more to strategy and freedom with each planet and forces etc.
popcorn2008
If their gonna use the same interface as rebellion they definetely need to get rid of all the using of the mouse, I mean after you play one hour of that game you get a nice little workout. lukeiamyourdad
DoW is all about brute force Me and my Eldar Rangers learned it the hard way... Awesome game though! I'd love E@W to have the feel of StarCraft, yet the tactics of Rome:Total War and the pure chaos of Dawn of War. That's just what my dream game would feel like. Makwu
I think the most underrated RTS ever was myth 1 and 2. first game to have 3d environments. First game to have weapons that could miss. First game to have no resource management, and first to have unit experience. All back in 1997. The multiplayer modes were the most fun I have ever had while gaming online. And I have been playing online games since doom2. I can give a detailed description of the multiplayer functions of myth if anybody here wants it. Slave.
That'd be good Makwu. I only ever played the demo of Myth, and my old computer could barely handle it, so I didn't ever get into the Myth games, but from what I saw in the demo and from what I've heard people saying about it, it's a great game. I really like the way that resource management is being handled in EaW, puts more focus on the battles, giving you more time to concentrate on controlling and microing your units without ever having to diveert your attention from it. Hallucination
I'd want a hero-system like WarCraft 3. I loved WarCraft3.
SirLancelot
I like DMUK's idea about the camera. In Rome Total War, you can zoom right in to the fighting and the unti detail is sensational.
Juggernaut1985
I'd like a recording feature but only if we can turn it off. Recording eats system performance like no other.

If there is a recording feature it would have to have an off feature. It wouldnt make sense to just have a game that continually records and eats up system space and performance rates. gamefreak
I would like to see a hero creation thing. They say that your the leader of your faction yet the emporer is still there not to mention the rebellion leaders. I would like to create my self then kill the emporer and make me the supreme ruler. (of course vader can stay) Im lead by no one and thats what this games suppost to be about so I think it would be nice.
