Wildstar Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 The initial version of the TIE Fighter Total Conversion for X-Wing Alliance has been released. It includes Battles 1-7 along with other goodies. Please note, however, that not only must you have a full retail copy of X-Wing Alliance, you must also have either the TIE Fighter Collectors' Edition (the DOS CD) or the Windows version of TIE Fighter (Disk 2 of the X-Wing Collectors' Series). Thread with download link and release notes can be found here.
edlib Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 That's very cool! I'll have to check that out. My first ever post here was right after I had finished XWA, and was wondering if anyone had ever converted any of the X-Wing and Tie-Fighter missions to run on the XWA engine. Seems like my hanging around here all this time has finally paid off.
Wildstar Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 edlib Missions from the first 3 X-Wing Tours of Duty have been converted to XWA, but they're in Spanish (as is the site given here).
edlib Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 That's cool too. Let's see if this works... Thank heaven for Google's translate feature!
Darth Lunatic Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Nice work. Will try it out tomorrow ROFL i just checked my post history and came upon this from 3 years ago http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=32755 Amazing.
Ikhnaton Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 it looks like i left my TF CD back east... what file does it specifically look for on the TIE fighter CD?
Wildstar Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 If I'm not mistaken, Ike, it looks for more than one file, b/c I believe the TFTC installation program actually does stuff like convert the TF cutscene files into a format XWA can use.
Ikhnaton Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 basically i'm trying to get out of getting someone to transfer the whole CD over to me. if i can get an idea of what files are needed, i'll get them to transfer just those and save some time.
Thrawn Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 I think it takes a big bulk of the files from the cutscenes as already stated, it addition to all of the voiceovers. I haven't had time to try it out myself just yet, but I hope to after finals. I'll let you know then.
