Guest DarthMaulUK
With the release of the new trailer, its clear that all the weather elements will be in the game. How will the weather have an impact on combat, if at all? Whats your thoughts with the introduction of weather? Its not been done in a Star Wars RTS before DMUK
Commander Obi-Wan
Personally I think it'll be cool.....though honestly I haven't seen more than one trailer (the first one) and looked over the site and stuff. I am mainly interested in BF II.

Jeff
I'm not sure how they would incorporate weather in the game. Not that I don't see how they would put it in, but I mean I don't know how it will affect gameplay if it does at all. It's possible it will only be for show. Another possibility is limiting sight ranges of missile troops, so you have to be closer to shoot at your enemy. Either that or limit accuracy. Or both
starmark2k
I think the elements like rain, snow and high winds could potentiaally have a large impact on the way certain units act. For example if there are strong winds any 'air' (or space) craft may need to be grounded or be at risk of crashing. and if there is a snow storm or or rain of a biblical proportion only walkes and tracked veihcals will work but with a lower LOS. If wheter will effect units like this it would need to come and go i each 'Mission" as if it continues all the way through it wouldn't work as well. gamefreak
It would make things interesting if we had weather If you had a planet always covered by storms it would give the Rebels a place to hide and the empire a reason to use the death star (easier to blow up stormy planet then try a ground assult)
lukeiamyourdad
It could probably hamper LOS, accuracy and speed. That's the easiest guess someone can make. I think that's how it will affect gameplay.
Juggernaut1985
I'm happy we even have the effects at all regardless of their impact if any. The subtle things make a game good.
FroZticles
It won't do anything its just there to provide pretty graphics for those who just want to blow stuff up.
THEredGERBAL
Provived it changes, E.g Storms come and go, then I don't really mind if it affect gameplay or is just there to look pretty, personally I hope it affect gameplay such as LOS and other things as it would add another dimension... Hmmm, What about nebula and large suns, could they affect fleet communications perhaps, maybe weather might not be limited to just the ground after all we know that asteroids wil affect space combat what else will affect space combat we wonder?
