Could someone tell me what i would need to get for mods to work on my xbox? I have heard of a mod chip, and also is there a place where i could get the mod chip installed?

You don't need a mod chip at all.

a software (softmod) is all you need

My husband and I modded our XBox about two months ago and that is what we did, and I can get plenty of mods to work on our XBox by FTPing them over on a cable connected from our XBox to our PC.

Try this link, it is a really good tutorial on how to softmod your XBox

One thing to remember when XBox modding... be patient... it may take a few hours, but it can be done...

It is a basic ethernet crossover cable you can buy at any Office Depot or the like... usually about 20 bucks depending on the length on the cable you buy

Depending on if you are going to FTP to your XBox through a router or if you will use a straight crossover connection, you will need one of two cables...

Crossover Cable CAT 5e Ethernet Cable (RJ45) (Usually blue colored) - you will use this one if you straight connect your PC to your XBox

and

Standard Ethernet Lan Cable (Usually yellow) - you will use this one if you use a router to connect your PC to your XBox

So far, I have installed around 10 mods and they've all worked for me. You have to be careful what type of mods you try to install.

Any mods that use model files of any type will most likely freeze your XBox because the model files for the XBox are not compatable with the PC version of the game.

Also, any mods that use new textures (re-skins) probably won't work because the XBox uses the low-resolution images for displaying, and most people who mod the PC version use the high-resolution images to re-skin.

I have found, though that if you resize any re-skins to half their size, I can get some of them to work :)

Once you softmod your XBox, you will be able to either make an Override folder on your XBox harddive OR copy your game to your harrdive (you have to do this for Kotor: TSL), then you can ftp your mods over.

The mods you want to use will mostly have to be a trial and error testing on your part, because I am sure we have different mod interests :)
