Being Childish

The Doctor

Recommended Posts

I was recently watching an episode of Tom Baker's seasons as The Doctor, and he said:

"There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes."

Jon Pertwee's Doctor one said:

"Was wrong with being childish? I like being childish."

Do you agree with these statements? I do. I think it's good to let your childish side come through every once in a while.

BTW, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker are the third and fourth guys, respectively, in my signature.

If you take the positive connotations of the word (lighthearted, playful, whimsical) childishness can be a beautiful, invigorating thing. However, it's not typically used in a positive sense (at least in the US) and is more likely to imply a stubborn selfishness--almost synonymous with "immature."

It's definitely important to remember how to have fun and never take anything (especially yourself) too seriously, but the converse is also true: knowing (or learning) how and when to be serious is just as key.

Childish? I hate being childish. It's a weakness and whining about something that isn't like you want is arrogance and shovinism. I despise that and I wish I never become a proud, arrogant, shovinistic and selfish jerk. That's what I think... If being childish is about whining when something isn't the way you want.

I don't whine, I complain (or object) at how the world stinks and we are only told to shut up (For Example: I object at how pornography is wrong, and that means that I whine... Great Logic).

Same ****ing ****, you bitch with no rational logic behind it.

You whine because you can't accept others are different.

Excuse me? Did I ever show that or state something like that? I did that in the past, I admit. But I changed, I accept that other people are different and I try to defend my way of thinking... I might behave rashly sometimes and I apologise, I just grew up defending myself physically since that was the only choice of defense I was ever offered.
