Mono_Giganto
I'm trying to install a game, and Installation is closing down due to an error. I've had this error on several games now, so I'm thinking it may be me. I have had this error with several games, including both KotOR games, and Civilization IV. This is the exact error I receive for Civ IV: Feature Transfer Error Feature: Default Feature Component: Civ4 Component File: E:\data2.cab Error: Data Error I've considered possibilities, and I don't believe it to be a problem with my disc drive. I successfully installed KotOR onto my old PC after first buying it, but I received this error when reinstalling it several months later on the same disc drive. After looking into the problem, I'm thinking it's a security issue, and that I may have software preventing its installation, but if I'm correct, I wouldn't know which software that is. Has anyone received this error, or a similar error for another game, and found out what was causing the issue?
Det. Bart Lasiter
Try copying the CD's files to an empty folder, then running the installer from there, you usually only need a game CD when you play the game, not install it.
The Doctor
^ Not in my experience. Every game I install needs to have the CD in the drive to do it.
Det. Bart Lasiter
Well, at any rate, I had to do that with KotOR I.
90SK
Same here with KotOR II. I just copied each disk contents onto the desktop (save disk 1), and directed the installation to each folder as needed.
Mono_Giganto
Alright, thanks for the tip, I'll try that now.
Darth InSidious
I had to reinstall older drivers for TSL... Erm, try uninstalling your security features one at a time? Or alternatively turn them all off for installation, then turn them on again later...It's painful and takes effort, but it'll work in the end...Or should do...I think.
