Remote Access into my desktop

So, I'm trying to remote into my desktop at home while I'm on campus. I can remote in with no problem while I'm on my home network (obviously). What I need to figure out is how to connect using IP. I have the dns info from Yahoo! DSL (I think), the IP for the connection from Yahoo! DSL, and I know my router info and the IP for my computer from the router. Is there something else that I need and how do I enter it all in correctly?

BTW, all machines running XP have remote access capabilities. XP Pro gives you more options though.

My thoughts on pcANYWHERE? Why spend the $ to buy it when you can use XP's built-in Remote Desktop and not spend any additional money? Of course I'm assuming you would use legit software...

Sounds like you got everything figured out to get Remote Desktop working from outside your LAN. All you should need to do on your LAN router is set it to forward port 3389 (I think) to the IP address of the computer you want to control.

The only other thing I can think of is what OS the computer(s) you use at school run. If it's anything prior to Windows XP then you will need to make sure either the RDC client or the Active X RDWC client <link> is installed otherwise you won't be able to connect to your host PC at home.
