gandiva
Hey, I'm not sure if anyone has ever tried this, but I've managed to play Pazaak with a normal card deck! It's a bit sloppy, I think. But at least now you can play against your family and friends. Here goes: Take that normal card deck (the one with 52 cards) and remove the royal family (Jokers, Jack's, King's, and Queen's) Shuffle them and deal four to you and your opponent. At the beginning, when you are dealing the cards out, the red cards are minus's and the black's are plus's. However, once you set the remaining deck out, there are no minus's - only plus's. (BEAR WITH ME, FOLKS. It's pretty much common sense) After that, the game is just the same. All you have to do is remember when you end your turn, when you stand, and the number of cards you have used. Be sure to remember that at the end of each round (three rounds in a game) that you separate the cards you have used in that round so you won't use them again in the next round. You can say END TURN, and STAND, too. Just think Pazaak. Well, it pretty much goes the same way. I hope my explanation makes sense. You can write on a piece of paper of how many times you won against your opponent, if you can't remember. I played successfully with my sister and I think it turned out right. It's hard to remember if you ended your turn sometimes but, like all card games, you just get used to it. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong or if I missed something. Thanks, Bali EDIT: Unfortunately, you can't have your own deck when you want to play. that sucks but I think this is better than nothing.
Sabretooth
I had been contemplating on a similar thing before - playing Pazaak with a normal card deck, but i couldn't figure out how the plus and minus system can be implemented here. Your idea looks good - now I just need a fellow KotOR player to play with in real life... I'm a lonely boy

Cygnus Q'ol
I wish I knew how many cards are in a shoe of Pazaak. Let's say you deal your oponents 4 side deck cards and he/she has a red6, red3, red5, black5. Then you deal yourself a black2, black9, red6, red5. That would leave only one five left in the deck. There've been times I've gotten three of the same cards in a row. Why can't you use more than one deck? I would. I like how you solved the (+ and -) side deck problem. But, what about the swtch2's and 4's and the switch 3's and 6's? Thank you Seamhainn.
Sabretooth
But' date=' what about the swtch2's and 4's and the switch 3's and 6's?[/quote'] Maybe we can bring the Royal Family here. You can use the Royal family anyhow, regardless of colour - Jack: Switch 1 Queen: Switch 2 King: Switch 3 Joker: Switch 4 For 5 and 6, you may want to modify your jokers or something. Cygnus Q'ol
Yes, or perhaps separate by color. Good one, Much obliged.
gandiva
Why can't you use more than one deck? I would. True. It would be good to do that. But, actually, when I was playing with my sister, we didn't even use the rest of the remaining deck. Whenever we finished a round, we just put the cards on the table that weren't our own back into the pile and shuffled them up again. I don't know. But it wouldn't hurt to use two decks. Oh, and about the switch thing? Well, I was referring to the first KOTOR, not the second. But the royal family idea is pretty good. Sounds alright to me. I don't gamble using money with my sister but I do ask her to do stupid things when I win. EHEHEHEHE.... like cleaning my room...

Sable Phoenix
Actually, each Pazaak player is supposed to bring his or her own complete deck and just play off of that. If you'll look into your inventory, you have both a Pazaak deck and a Pazaak side-deck. I'd imagine that the standard Pazaak deck is simply a standard four-of-each-number card deck minus the face cards (I've tried to establish exactly how many of each number actually are in a deck but I've never been able to so I just assume it's four). You shuffle and deal out of your standard deck when you play each set, just as the opponent does with his. That's why Gelrood on Taris was banned and had his "lucky" deck taken away; they're not just talking about his side deck, but his actual complete Pazaak deck. It would be really, really hard to cheat if all the standard number cards were house-dealt.
gandiva
Yes, I agree but I did mention in my first post that unfortunately you can't have your own sidedeck in this version. It would be cool if LucasArts came out with an official Pazaak game. But I don't how you can make up your own deck. I guess you would have to pay for your own cards.... My sister asks me to do worse things like eat avocadoes. UGH.... luckily she only wins once in a very long while...

To have special cards advantage wouldn't apply. It should be based on luck of how you draw from side decks. Then each player draws from the main deck to play and options to use a side deck card or not. Making a deck shouldn;t be that hard if you really want it and spens some $ - just take the .tga's from the game and print them at near standard card size and get them printed out on a thick plastic stock and then laminated. But, what about the swtch2's and 4's and the switch 3's and 6's? do what i did. i printed out all the different cards in a side deck and stuck them onto card, then cut them out. for the normal deck, i found out that each player's deck is supposed to have the numbers 1-10 in four sets, thats four cards of each. since a normal playing card deck has 1-10 four times, you can use that as the main deck, sans the kings, queens, jacks and jokers. your opponent can also have a deck without all the royals as his/her main deck. in case you dont have the printed out versions of the sidedeck, you can be more simplistic and write out the values on pieces of paper, then use that as a sidedeck. this is my version of Pazzak in reality and i cant wait to teach it to my friends
