mattwild
Since the Interdictor has just as many if not more laser cannons than the Tartan, and it has more abilities, do any of you lot use it as a replacement for the Tartan when you tech up to it? I have experimented and found it very useful, especially with the missile jam.
Darth Alec
What? You can use the Interdictor as a replacement for the Tartan? I didn't know that. I might actually try that though.
gswift
Hmmm, how much do they each cost in skirmish? The price would have to be close. How good are they against x-wings? Most cap ships can't hit fighters. Are they fast enough to outrun a corellian corvette and kill it, like the tartan can? Most cap ships are slow. How many pop cap points does an interdictor use? Tartan is two. Cap ships take damage from asteroids, so they aren't good for capturing mines and space build pads. I'm betting that interdictors take longer to build than tartans too. I use the interdictor sometimes, but I've never looked at using it to replace my tartans. I mainly just use it in campaign to prevent retreat, and even then, they seem to get destroyed or disabled very easilly. I don't think this sounds like a good replacement for tartans. I'm guessing that if you spent the same amount of credits on a bunch of each type, the tartans would win a fight between the two.
Slocket
If the Interdictor has its missile jamming field on, how can the Rebel Y-Wing bombers still target its hardpoints? As if the jamming field does not work?
mattwild
Granted, it probably is easier to hit, but then again, it has the missile jamming field which would stop it being targeted by missiles from Corellian Gunships, which I find are extremely annoying against my Tartans. The corellian gunships are supposed to be one level up from tartans, not an equal (hence the tech level of two required to build them). The counter to corellian gunships would be ISD and VSD, according to the quick ref guide. However, the quick ref guide has a bunch of things that are wrong... in the current version. But I'm just a droid, ...and not very knowledgeable about these things.

It's dripping with varied weaponry, and it's the fastest frigate in the Imperial arsenal. I've recently become a big fan of this little frigate (a big reason I want to play a tech-1-only conquest game). In my last conquest game, even at tech 5 I was making big use of Acclamators, specifically as a Tartan replacement for (not quite as efficient, but still decent) fighter/bomber control and also to slice through enemy corvettes/gunships - which they do very well...and even to gang up on enemy capital ships. I had six of them tear down Home One - and THAT was fun! I lost three of them, but made the remaining ones finish the task before I reinforced. The secret was to boost weapons immediately, then take out Home One's turbolasers as fast as possible (his ion cannons were rendered moot as my shields were down anyway). †Saint_Killa†
Tartans are more efficient against fighters. I don't think I would replace Interdictors to Tartans.
