Archon II
The .bik files in Kotor 2 have some music from Kotor 1 in them. I think ( I just want some reassurance) that it would be 100% ok to use them (the Kotor 1 music) if I were to extract them. Thoughts anyone? Since they are in Kotor 2. The Doctor
I assume that it would be legal then, yes. Anything in the KotOR II game files is fair game.

You could argue that it's legal, but considering the only place you can find unaltered versions of the music is in the KotOR1 data files, it gets a little tricky, legally. I honestly don't know how LucasArts would feel about that. If I had to guess, I'd think they wouldn't care. In fact they probably wouldn't care about a bunch of content you could move from one game to the other, but of course if you're speeding and a cop turns the other cheek, it's still illegal. I guess it really depends on how "letter of the law" you want to be.
Det. Bart Lasiter
The simplest way to avoid this altogether is to download the RAD Video Tools, import the *.bik video into it, then export it as an AVI file. From there, you can just open the AVI in a video editor (you can get a 30-day Premiere Pro 2.0 trial from here) and export the audio track.
