This is all because ntl wont let us have two modems so we are upgrading and setting up a network!!! Ikhnaton Posted November 16, 2001 Share Posted November 16, 2001 I have never seen a download go faster than about 220-250K, and this is from experience in many office networks and my own cable modem. good luck getting 512K. you may have that capability, but the majority of servers and high speed connections won't go that fast. I have cable, and if I get more than 20k/s on a download, I'm jumping with happiness. Back with 56k, it was normally 2.5k/s, almost never went to 3. Once when I was having DL trouble at home I tried to DL the file at work to see if it was the site or my PC and I DLed a 100mg Counter strike file in under 6 minutes.
