Just some screenies of OJP. I was bored but razor is free to use these if for whatever reason he wants(frontpage, whatever). Or this could be a sticky and be the official screenies thread.

Wow nice shots. Is that a dwarfed yoda model your fighting? If so, How did you dwarf it and/or what model is it?

Its the Yoda by Mars Marshall.

You just scale the model down when you want to be short, and if you want to fight against him you just enable cheats and do /npc spawn yodavm or whatever yoda model you choose to spawn.

To get the right size for Yoda, I suggest you add the following to ‘modelscale.cfg’ in your Folder:

"yodavm" 0.75

"yodaflee" 0.75[/Quote]

The problem with model scaling is it often unbalances things. A small Yoda can be a pretty hard target. There needs to be a strong setback for model scaling I think. Maybe have it so it costs Force Points to downscale your model? That way they can be penalized for using a small character... It's something to consider.

Modelscaling also really screws up some of the player-on-player behavior like saberlocks and grapples. I suppose it's possible if we REALLY restricted the max/min settings, but more people seem to be NOT in favor of modelscaling than are in favor of it.

If we did it right, I'd be in favor of it. I've always wanted to play as a small yoda. We'd have to do stuff like speed adjustment, different dp damages, and shorter sabers depending on the model size though.

Here's an idea: make a model bend down if he's in front of and within saber reach of a short opponent, or bend back to look up to a taller opponent in those cases. Make the amount of bending proportionate to the size difference.

You might want to limit it though or else a movie-sized Dooku could be doubled over like he's puking on his shoes when he fights a movie-sized Yoda.

Or just have modelscaling be client-side?

I don't know if it's the correct word but make it only visible for the person that did scale it, for the rest the model stays the same height.

That would only look weird. Saber impacts, gun attacks, etc would be calculated based on the normal model size. Plus, only that player would see that Yoda isn't 6 feet tall.

I tried that, but didn't really like it. The author seemed to overdo it by applying a glow shader to every texture. And anyway, I thought bloom only applies to the effect that light has on textures

Still, it's a good first step. I doubt the author will be improving on it though
