Emperor Devon
Let's just reduce it to 12, then.
CSI
Still trying to figure out...But however nice battle, guys.
Emperor Devon
Thanks, but this nice battle of ours will turn into a nonexistent one if my nemesis doesn't post in it. @Jae, is it your turn or mine now?
Jae Onasi
Well, it was a little hard to reply over the last few days....I even tried to edit in an answer in one of the posts and it wouldn't let me do that. I think you had the last attack, so it's my turn.... Jae does Force Wave--roll a reflex save. And how many more rounds do you want to do before moving on to the real thing? And I understood there'd be 3 on 3 for the real thing?
Emperor Devon
Jae does Force Wave--roll a reflex save. Way to use your turn. For the reflex save, I got 29. Interesting number. And how many more rounds do you want to do before moving on to the real thing? This is taking a while. How about just applying the damage we've already dealt to the real thing? We'd basically be repeating this. And I understood there'd be 3 on 3 for the real thing? We could, although one character each has proven enough to keep track of. Do you want to forget about having any minions? We'd both be at an equal disadvantage from it.
Jae Onasi
Way to use your turn. For the reflex save, I got 29. Interesting number. *Jae sends Devon flying 5 meters, and he lands on the ground in a loud grunt and is still for several seconds....* You had to meet/beat 37 (DC 5 + level + Wis mod + Cha mod). You took 27 points of damage (I'm assuming physical/bludgeoning since you're hitting the ground), and you are incapacitated (stunned) for 6 seconds (6 sec. = 1 round) What is your Dex mod? Your lose the Dex component on your DEF because you can't dodge while you're incapacitated. Your DEF will be 33-dex mod-4 (for battle med)-2 (for being stunned). Rule:stunned A stunned creature drops everything held, can't take actions, takes a -2 penalty to AC, and loses his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any). Source: PHB, DMG This is taking a while. How about just applying the damage we've already dealt to the real thing? We'd basically be repeating this. Actually, this was not the specific strategy I intended following (now did you think I'd give that away?), so I'd like to start from the beginning, thank you. We could, although one character each has proven enough to keep track of. Do you want to forget about having any minions? We'd both be at an equal disadvantage from it. I built my characters with a party of 3 in mind, so going to just one would require me to change Jae's character. I actually had a strategic plan in mind, you know. Emperor Devon
*Jae sends Devon flying 5 meters, and he lands on the ground in a loud grunt and is still for several seconds....* Right, before you get all carried away with this, let's make sure I calculated my saves right... It's been a little while since we've dueled, but I should have rolled a random 20 and a random 17 (Devon's reflex) to get the save, yes? Actually, this was not the specific strategy I intended following (now did you think I'd give that away?), so I'd like to start from the beginning, thank you. The fact that I've dished out more damage is irrelevant. Let's include it. I built my characters with a party of 3 in mind, so going to just one would require me to change Jae's character. I actually had a strategic plan in mind, you know. I wouldn't want to go to the trouble of calculating stuff for three characters. Let's stick to one, and you can change Jae's stats and equipment if you want.
Jae Onasi
Right, before you get all carried away with this, let's make sure I calculated my saves right... It's been a little while since we've dueled, but I should have rolled a random 20 and a random 17 (Devon's reflex) to get the save, yes? What's your Reflex (Ref) save? It's on your portrait by the Will and and Fort saves. Roll d20 and add that. I'm assuming your reflex is somewhere in the high teens to low 20's, so 29 is not unrealistic. Nor is missing your reflex save, either. And you roll too many 20s and I'll be very suspicious and have Tysyacha make all our rolls for us. No one's that lucky. The fact that I've dished out more damage is irrelevant. Let's include it. Nope. There are things I had planned differently that likely would have had an effect on this. I wouldn't want to go to the trouble of calculating stuff for three characters. Let's stick to one, and you can change Jae's stats and equipment if you want. I will be happy to do the sheets on them for you, you know. And I promise not to cheat or anything and make them suspiciously weak.
Emperor Devon
What's your Reflex (Ref) save? 17. Nor is missing your reflex save, either. True. I got a 15 when I rolled calculated it incorrectly, but even that's not enough. And I only get a 9 rolling this time. Damn. But even if it was 19 that wouldn't be enough. Nope. There are things I had planned differently that likely would have had an effect on this. Yes. Too afraid to take me on, one to one? I knew you'd back down from a simple, man to man fight! I will be happy to do the sheets on them for you, you know. And I promise not to cheat or anything and make them suspiciously weak. Since we won't be using minions, there's no need. No thanks. Jae Onasi
17. True. I got a 15 when I rolled calculated it incorrectly, but even that's not enough. And I only get a 9 rolling this time. Damn. But even if it was 19 that wouldn't be enough. Da Rulz say rolling a 20's an automatic save and rolling a 1 is an automatic fail on the save. Yes. Too afraid to take me on, one to one? I knew you'd back down from a simple, man to man fight! I don't back down from fair fights. And changing the rules in the middle is not fair. Since we won't be using minions, there's no need. No thanks. I'll go tinker with Jae's stuff again. Which is another good reason to start from the top. Things should theoretically go a little faster now that we know what the heck we're doing. Humor mode way, way on: Or at least enough that RedHawke isn't going to razz us. And I'm _kidding_! At least I'm re-learning a lot for our little game at home. Toto's all excited about making his character and getting started in the game. I'll be GMing a party of 2 human paladins and a halfling rogue (good-aligned). Should be very interesting. I like the fact that Toto's doing a lot of math in a fun setting so it's not so boring for him. Yeah, I'm a sneaky education junkie....
Emperor Devon
Da Rulz say rolling a 20's an automatic save and rolling a 1 is an automatic fail on the save. If only I'd gotten a 20... I don't back down from fair fights. And changing the rules in the middle is not fair. Nonsense. You can have as much time as you like to rethink your strategy, change your equipment, feats, etc. I won't rush you. We'll be even once you're finished. See, I'm a fair guy. Humor mode way, way on: Or at least enough that RedHawke isn't going to razz us. And I'm _kidding_! RedHawke's edited a post, but I think he's a lurker in this thread. I like the fact that Toto's doing a lot of math in a fun setting so it's not so boring for him. I didn't like math at his age either (and still don't ). He's lucky to have it worked into such a great setting. Yeah, I'm a sneaky education junkie.... It'll probably be in five or six years, but once he joins LF, I'm going to tell him that his mom sneaked math into his hobbies.
Jae Onasi
Fair? Just kidding!!!! Seriously, I'll look over the equipment and such and see if/how I want to alter it, adjust a force power possibly, and go from there, _and_ from the beginning. Besides, what's a duel without some monologuing at the beginning? You gotta monologue a little before you attack, you know. It's Rule #1 in The Bad Guy Handbook. Emperor Devon
Fair? When it suits me. Seriously, I'll look over the equipment and such and see if/how I want to alter it, adjust a force power possibly, and go from there, _and_ from the beginning. I'll probably make some tweaks, too. Besides, what's a duel without some monologuing at the beginning? You gotta monologue a little before you attack, you know. It's Rule #1 in The Bad Guy Handbook. By a monologue, do you mean the fic part? We've gotten to the dice-rolling now, but I'd be fine either way.
Jae Onasi
Tweaking both our characters is fine by me. Monologing, like what Mr. Freeze (the super-guy Samuel L. Jackson voiced) describes in "The Incredibles". Where the bad guy goes on for a while about how wonderfully evil he is, his dastardly secret plan to take over the universe, and how he's 'going to destroy you, Muahahaha!' Emperor Devon
Tweaking both our characters is fine by me. Let me know when you've got it. Monologing, like what Mr. Freeze (the super-guy Samuel L. Jackson voiced) describes in "The Incredibles". Where the bad guy goes on for a while about how wonderfully evil he is, his dastardly secret plan to take over the universe, and how he's 'going to destroy you, Muahahaha!' Going back about 54 days, (wow! We've been dueling since September 21st!) I believe Jae and company were fighting Tysyacha in Devon's body. It wouldn't make much sense for him to start reciting a "teh galixy is myn!!!11!!1one!' speech from behind 8 blast doors, y'know.

Emperor Devon
What's there to really say, though? He only wants Tysyacha, since he already has the galaxy.
