Easter Eggs

The Sith'ari

Recommended Posts

Now, I know Knights of the Old Republic is a game with depth, especially K2, where the sole presence of Kreia sobers me up. But that doesn't mean there can't be some lighthearted fun in it, does it? I wonder if any easter eggs can be inserted into K3.

IMO, it'd be cool to have occasional easter eggs in K3, provided that the game is less linear and there's more space for us to explore. Perhaps something related to the prequels? Any suggestions? Or do you like the idea of having easter eggs in the game? Please discuss. :)

Oh yes. Having throwaway lines (the Mandalorian directly quoting Jango Fett), scenes (Revan's resersal of Leia and saying the Jedi are on Alderaan), hints at characters or events in other Star Wars tales (Mission and Zaalbar = Han and Chewie) and the occasional no holds barred bits the designers slipped in for a laugh ("Are you an angel?") are part of the magic. In K1 we get to visit Tattoine, have a Wookie, fly a spaceship that's suspeciously like the Millinnium Falcon, ect. How about for the next game the ending has you flying down a trench to destroy some invincible Sith weapon. Classic Star Wars.

Now there's some preservationism I'd rather like to indulge! VINTAGE. While I am one who is pro change--I swear I must confess, I have always been a bit partial to references of vintage and classics in any feild (provided it's un-repetitive, uncanny, and avoids redundancies). It humbly shows, in the future, a rememberance of its roots. A sort of tribute to its own heritige and history is the perfect way to show its legendary status. Establishes and enforces the idea that it is long-running.

I like that.

Not every heart is so kind. Lighthearted fun, like comedy.

I guess a little romance could mix in, with the more "fleshy" aspects--in a purely PG13 manner of course. While guys like me aren't much for the mushy stuff--my 'macho' pals didn't complain much about K1 where male revan got to kiss Bastilla!

Easter eggs? What kind of goodies would we search out? Comic pages? Cards?

Images? Concept Drawings/art?

As far as I can see, not very many want to go with the idea of the republic's destruction. You know, giving weight and substance to the part in AOTC where we find that the republic in the films has only stood for ~1000 yrs. KOTOR is around 4,000 yrs before that. So if nobody wants to pay attention to where it's going, then I would agree that, yes, we need to go back into the past a bit more. Prequels seem to be all the rage nowadays.

K1 Easter Eggs: Turn Malak into a dancing Twi'lek before the last battle

K2 Easter Eggs: On the 3rd play, the Handmaiden can recite Enchani poetry if male, if female Atton while in the cage on Peragus will talk about how he wanted to be in a Jedi Knights game but missed the cut, his agent did manage to get him into K2. Also there is the HK Pacifist Unit.

There are probably more

The entire scene plays out like this, after completing the game twice and once as Dark Side. Exile enters where Atton is being held captive and instead of the normal dialogue the camera cuts to the Exile walking overhead.

Atton (in Anakin style voice): Are you an angel?

Exile doesn't reply, but the gun she's carrying is now quite visable.

Atton: Aw I'm just kidding. That's the worst line I've ever used. Hope some poor kid doesn't start using it.

The Jake Lloyd bashing done, Exile asks about Atton, who's stikk cracking jokes.

Atton: I'm Atton. I actually wasn't supposed to make it into the final game but I was created at the last minute. Blame my agent. I actually was going to be in a spin off to Jedi Knight but I don't want to talk about what happened there.

Then the dialogue continues as normal.

These hidden bits are the funniest, but certainly the Mandalorian going "I'm just a guy trying to make ends meet. It's not glamerous work but a man's got to eat" and other referrences and in jokes for the fans deserve a tip of the cap as well. Something like a 'spot how many faces and referrences you can get' would be fun but it wouldn't work in something like KOTOR.

And speaking of referrences, did anyone else thing upon seeing Lethal Alliance that it was an excuse to have a game featuring Aayla Secura, or is it just me?
