Point Man
Biggio is a definite Hall-of-Famer. If he stays healthy, Albert Pujols will have to have an entire Hall to himself. In six years, the guy has put up numbers that only Dimaggio, Williams, and Foxx can compare to...250 homers, 758 RBI, 1158 hits and he's only 27!! Add to that the fact that he is a just a great guy, and you have someone I feel honored to watch.
Cygnus Q'ol
I definately consider Biggio a soon-to-be hall of famer. I put him up there with the likes of Cal Ripken, Tony Gwynn and Robin Yount. Very consistant and clutch hitter, smart at the plate and a great student of the game. His defense is nothing to sneeze at either. He's been an all around awesome player for many years. Barring catastrophic disaster, Pujols should own the hall. But, he still has many more years to prove it. Who is the hottest pitcher right now? Who hangs on for the Cy young this season? Jae Onasi
Right now Rich Hill is really hot. He's so new tho that I don't think he'll hang on for the Cy Young. Zambrano _could_ do it if he buckles down and stays consistent, but I suspect there will be other pitchers who make it instead.
mimartin
Who is the hottest pitcher right now? Who hangs on for the Cy young this season? Rich Hill’s got 3 starts and 3 wins with a .41 ERA having given up 8 hit, 7 walks while only allowing 1 ER and striking out 18. That sounds pretty hot to me. Considering he has half the Cubs wins this season, I’d say he’s the hottest pitcher in the MLB. Now the homer in me will come out. I’m going with Roy Oswalt for the Cy Young this season. He consistently pitches quality innings and is a strike out pitcher, something I’ve noticed Cy Young voters look at. Right now it way to early to tell, but I’m impressed with Hill right now and I’m an Oswalt fan. It doesn’t hurt that he is also 3 and O and pitched more innings then anyone else. Thanks everyone for your replies about Biggio. There’s not many Houston Baseball Hall of Famer’s and due to the Steroids’ controversy I’m not sure about Bagwell’s chances. Commander Obi-Wan
Two pitchers that I pay attention to rather closely, this far into the season, are Toronto's Roy Halladay. He's 2-0 and has an ERA of 2.37, which is respectable. But, the bullpen has done a poor job finishing of the games. I think once the season progresses, I think he'll be in high contention. Also, Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Marniners, is 2-1 and has an ERA of 1.56, only allowing 6 hits and holding a BAA of .107. Then, there is Mark Buerhle... Though, those few pitchers are really all that I have really noticed in the American League. Haven't pay much attention to who is pitching in the NL. Mav
Tim Hudson is finally coming through for the Braves this season, he had a no hitter going into the 5th today against an offensively oppressive NY Mets team, who going into tonight led the National League by batting .303 as a team, and at Shea Stadium. He has gone 3-0 in his first 4 starts this season. His ERA right now is 0.62, and he has only allowed 2 earned runs, and 16 hits in his 29 innings so far this season. That is pretty darned good, granted he got bailed out in the 5th today on a nice play by Kelly Johnson at 2nd, but still the man is pitching outstanding so far, his sinker is really starting to work for him. But being a Braves fan I guess I'm just biased.
Cygnus Q'ol
I wonder if there's anyone left alive at the Fett-Onasi household. That was one heck of a game Sunday. I'm usually riveted on the Brewers when they battle a team like Houston, which was aired at the same time, but I must admit, I utilized my PIP and LAST functions alot Sunday for that Cardinal/Cubbie match-up. I can't believe how clutch Albert Pujols is. That was a big 10th inning knock. They don't get any bigger, except in the playoffs. ...oops, I forgot that it's illegal to say that word in April. I've always likes Roland, even back when he was with the Phillies. He's one of the best third basemen in the game and stays at the top of that list. Brew crew took two outta three from the pesky, never-die Astros. No sooner than I speak of Biggio, then I get to watch him work. He's still awesome, But the Crew was too much this time around. Lot's of season left, but I like the start.

[/quote'] Yea, when Biggio was up in the 9th Sunday with the bases loaded I was hoping for a repeat performance of Friday night’s grand slam. Since he only averages one every decade it was too much to ask for. I’m not one for the Yankees or the Red Socks, but I watched a lot of that series this past weekend. Point Man
I wonder if there's anyone left alive at the Fett-Onasi household. I'm still alive only because I made the choice not to gloat too much. I can't believe how clutch Albert Pujols is. That was a big 10th inning knock. He is the best player to come along in a long time. If he stays healthy, the record book will be his biography. I've always likes Roland, even back when he was with the Phillies. He's one of the best third basemen in the game and stays at the top of that list. I have always liked him, too. I really love the way he approaches the game. No nonsense, no showboating, just does his job and does it well. The Brewers have started out well, and though I like them, I must root for the Cubs right now (since the Brewers are in front of the Cards, and the Cubs are not). Cygnus Q'ol
All Hail the Prince !!! Thou must boweth. Cubbies/Brewers, always a battle to the end. Neither team wanted to give in. It came down to attrition. Is there anybody left for tonight's game? ...God, I love baseball.
Jae Onasi
Arrgggh!!! This is the 2nd extra-innings game we've lost! When is the offense going to show up for a close game? I stay married to Jimbo because I've decided to allow him some time to gloat. However, I feel the need to gloat a bit myself when the Cubs win. I stay married to Jimbo because I've decided to allow him some time to gloat. However, I feel the need to gloat a bit myself when the Cubs win. Good luck with that. I hope, for your sake, that you get many opportunities for gloatdom. ...just not tonight. Suppan vs. Hill tonight. Should be a pitcher's duel. Hill hasn't given up a run since April 6th against the Brewers. He's on fire. Hope the Brewers bring their fire hoses. Suppan, an ace we stole from the Cards, has a pair of wins and a few quality starts, but hasn't shined like we've expected. Perhaps tonight he can get on that dominant track. Just for Pete's sake, stay away from Derrek Lee, that guy scares me. I really wish I could be down at Wrigley for this series. That place is such a blast to experience a ball game. My 5am job start time means I have to watch it on TV. Barry Bonds is 15 away from immortality, does anyone care?
Commander Obi-Wan
I honestly don't really mind this Barry Bonds stuff? But, I don't think we need to talk about if he deserves it or not. The Blue Jays won! 10-3 over the BoSox. Halladay as pitching and pitched a pretty good game. Roy went eight innings striking out ten. Pretty good performance I would say. And Vernon Wells had 4 runs, and hits, and 3 RBIs. It's time for him to pick up at bat.

Point Man
So early in the season and the frustration is already showing for the Cubs fans. A player gets a hit, drives in a run to make it 5-0, and a runner gets thrown out at third on the play. What is the response from the fans? They boo the play. Five runs ahead, and they're booing!?! Cygnus Q'ol
My heart goes out to the family, friends and fans of Josh Hancock who's passing was sudden and tragic. I don't know much about Josh, but what I've learned is that he was an intrical part of that staff and a very beloved clubhouse character. I know guys like that. I'm sure in his circles, he'll be sorely missed. I hope the Cardinals can find some motivation to play on while they work through this tragedy. They've gone through too much of this. Jae Onasi
Very sad that he passed away, and my sympathies go to his family and his team. He died in a car wreck when his SUV crashed into the back of a tow-truck that was in the process of helping another stranded driver. Fortunately, the tow-truck driver was not injured. I know the Cardinals will work through it and play hard in his honor.
Commander Obi-Wan
R.I.P Josh Hancock. Roy Halladay won, yet again, last night. He pitched a complete game, giving up five hits and allowing on run in the first inning. He pitched a solid game, there-after, as well, as striking out eight and 0 BB. Early Cy Young candidate? Yessum.
Cygnus Q'ol
The BREW CREW is on a tear. The starting pitching is holding up it's end of the bargain, so far. Sheets, Bush, Suppan and Cappy have had quality starts. When you add that to the decent bullpen action from innings seven onward, a platoon system that features Hall, Mench, Graffinino, and Gwynn Jr., and great, early game run production, you get W's. April has been exceptionally fun so far. Cubbies are back to 500 and playing decent ball again. I knew they would. __________________________________________ Can the Giants still win a world Series on the back of Bond's historic season? Is this Bobby Cox's last chance at a World Series Ring? Jae Onasi
Hancock's death just got sadder--had a blood alcohol level of .157 (almost twice the legal limit in MO), he didn't have a seatbelt on, and was talking on a cell phone when he crashed. The cops found 7.7 g of marijuana and a glass pipe for smoking in the SUV, which was rented, so they're checking to see if he also had that in his system (since there's a remote chance it wasn't his). The medical examiner said he died within seconds of impact from massive head injuries, so at least he had the small blessing of not suffering. Very sad. Jae Onasi
Well, Brewers actually deserved to win after 4 idiot Cubs stood on the mound and watched the darn ball just fall to the ground. Sheesh. I've never seen a team with so much potential play so badly. Little league players do better than the Cubs.
