[Fic] Bridge over Troubled Water

Recommended Posts

This is a possible Fan Fic I'm writing set after Knights of the Old Republic and before Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. It stars my Revan and Jedi Exile, who are LSM and LSF, but the Jedi Exile might be different for this Fan Fic. The Fan Fic is named after the Simon and Garfunkel song of the same name. In a month's time, I will publish this on FanFiction.Net. Please read the Prologue and tell me if I should continue. Enjoy!

Prologue

An old woman snuck on the ship, the Ebon Hawk. Nothing could be seen of her facial features, except for wrinkled skin, cracked lips and white coloured eyes, which were blind, but with the help of the Force, she could clearly. The elderly woman knew that the entire crew of the Ebon Hawk would soon return, but she had plenty of time to look around. She found it foolish that an entire crew would leave their ship, their home unguarded. Well, the Ebon Hawk had been locked down and the planet it was on had tight security, but with someone as wise as her, she had managed to override the security console, which had kept the security systems locked down and walked inside the Ebon Hawk. She knew that the crew leader, her former greatest apprentice would take his time on the planet, before leaving.

Continuing to look around, the woman walked inside the main hold. Here she could hear the many conversations that the crew had had in the past. The woman breathed in deeply and smiled. The Force was telling her everything she needed to know about her past apprentice and his companion’s adventures, by allowing her to read their minds. His companion’s voices were more muffled compared to that of the apprentice, but the woman had no care for that little problem. For some reason, she couldn’t read the minds of two droids, who had accompanied the apprentice on his last adventure. She wondered if it was because they were droids and not living beings. Whatever the problem was, the woman was confounded by this, but decided not to worry about it for now. For now, there were other problems to worry about.

Still in the main hold, the woman sharply turned around, hearing the voices of the apprentice and the crew. Quickly, the woman used the Force to become invisible and remained silent, hoping that she couldn’t be sensed by the Force from her apprentice. A party of eight people and two droids entered. A young man who carried a single lightsaber and dressed in the traditional clothing of the Jedi Order led the party. Still invisible, the woman kept her beady eye on him. He took off his brown robe, which revealed a tunic of the same colour. The woman ignored the muffled voices of the crew, who continued to talk about their recent adventure.

Unexpectedly, the man walked towards the spot where the woman was standing. Hoping that she hadn’t revealed her presence too soon, the woman held her breath. A young woman entered the main hold and the woman could sense that the Force was strong with her, as it was the apprentice. The woman also thought that both the apprentice and the young woman had a strong Force Bond between them, something the woman hadn’t had since her greatest apprentice.

“What is it?” The woman asked her arms hung round the man’s body.

“Nothing Bastila,” The man replied, “It’s just that I thought I sensed a familiar presence.”

The woman began to worry, but she didn’t reveal the signs. And the woman was Bastila? Bastila Shan, one of the greatest Jedi of the Jedi Order? The woman smiled, as she knew that her former apprentice would find someone great to fall in love with.

“You’ve been having nightmares,” Bastila told him, “The Force is bound to be more open to you.”

The man sighed.

“I suppose you’re right,” He answered, “We better get back to Coruscant. The Jedi Masters will want to see us.”

As soon as the two of them left the main hold, the woman took the risk of being seen. She smiled and said only five words.

“Revan, I’ve finally found you.”

Tops, I really love your story presentation - it's lucid, detailed and charming. It's not the sort that bores you brain out, but it isn't a children's storybook either. :D

The story looks promising too, and is off to a good start. I'm giving you a double thumbs up, if you didn't notice, by the way.

Thank you both. I thought that I'd post it here first, before I release it to Fan.Fiction.Net in June, when by then, I should have more of the Fic done. I'm hoping that it will adopt a similar style to both of the games and that it will add a new chapter in the KOTOR series, since I never see many Fan Fics set in between the two games.

Sabre, since you've replied to this, I really need to catch up and read The Dusk Lady. Topsite is back!

I thought it was pretty good . . . except for a few things;

It's too short. I usually try to make my fanfics at least three pages on a word document (size 12).

So this is a small while after Revan beats Malak, right? (Just making sure) It's a little hard to find the clues to it . . . and in the beginning it makes it sound a little bit like the Ebon Hawk is empty and that Krea is listening to the past voices that were spoken there . . . But Bah! Maybe I'm just dumb and can't comprehend.

Other than that, you have a very good Fic! I'm looking forward to more . . . We don't see many of these. ;)

Anyone is allowed to say what they think and I'll answer to it.

Well on Word, the whole thing is two pages with Times New Roman Font of Size 12. The first chapter is longer by the way, but Prologues/Epilogues are usually shorter than chapters and usually, the work looks a lot bigger on Word than on a Forum or otherwise.

Yes. Almost a year, which will begin Revan's cause to leaving for the Unknown Regions. What makes you think it is Kreia? I haven't revealed who it is yet. But yes, this woman is listening to the voices of Revan's past travels and is obviously interested in his travels.

Other than that, you have a very good Fic! I'm looking forward to more . . . We don't see many of these. ;)

Thank you and be sure to read next time.

Chapter I - Coruscant

From space, the spires from the planet of Coruscant shone brightly, indicating the many buildings there. Coruscant was the most important planet in the galaxy. It was the location of the main headquarters of the Galactic Republic, the home of the Galactic Senate and of course the most important location for the Jedi Order.

Revan, who was now known as Diego Varen stood alone in the cockpit. He was glad to see a familiar planet again. It had been a seven months since he was last on Coruscant, which was three months after he had found out who he really was. For Diego, Coruscant was the closest planet to home at the moment. It was the only place Diego could relax and not reflect on his past. Everywhere he went, many recognised him as the Sith Lord who led an entire fleet on a defenceless planet, killing all of the innocent people. Diego deeply regretted his past, a past that he couldn’t even remember.

“Diego.”

Diego turned to see his closest friend, Carth Onasi, soldier and pilot of the Ebon Hawk. He had played a crucial role in helping Revan destroy the Star Forge, nine months ago. What should have been a great and honourable memory was another regret and as a Sith Lord, he had an apprentice. Darth Malak. He was also killed on the Star Forge and even though Diego couldn’t remember anything about training or even life with Malak, he felt a deep loss as the Sith Lord fell to the floor and one of the last things he had said before he died had made Diego think.

"Savior, conqueror, hero, villain. You are all things, Revan… and yet you are nothing. In the end, you belong to neither the light nor the darkness. You will forever stand alone."

What if Malak was right? What if Diego was all of those things?

“Are you alright?” Carth asked.

Diego nodded silently. Carth sat in the pilot seat and Revan sat in the co-pilot seat next to him. The cockpit was illuminated in many small lights, as the Ebon Hawk began to be activated again.

“Are we going in?” Carth asked.

“Yeah,” Diego told him, “I’m going to have to tell the Jedi Masters.”

Carth looked at him, confused.

“Tell the Jedi Masters what?” Carth asked.

“You do ask a lot of questions Carth,” Diego told him, “I thought you were okay with me now.”

Diego could remember when Carth had told him that he had never trusted anyone, since his leader, Admiral Saul Karath, betrayed the Republic in the Mandalorian Wars.

“I am,” Carth told him, “But what will you tell the Jedi Masters?”

Diego ignored the question and walked out of the cockpit.

“I’ll tell you later,” Diego told him, as he left the cockpit.

Carth continued to pilot, the Ebon Hawk getting closer and closer to Coruscant.

*****

Once again invisible, the old woman continued to spy on the Ebon Hawk crew. She had been watching Revan and Carth’s argument. The woman wasn’t familiar with Carth as much as she was with Revan and Bastila, but she knew that she recognised Carth from somewhere. No matter how much Revan continued to call himself Diego, the woman would always call him the name he once had. Revan.

She slipped off to see what else the crew were up to. She had to learn more about this crew and at sometime, she would have to reveal herself to them.

*****

In the skies of Coruscant, the sun shone brightly and the weather was one of the best the planet had ever had for a while. The Ebon Hawk landed on the docking bay, directly outside of the Jedi Temple. A young man stood near the docking bay, presumably waiting for the crew of the Ebon Hawk. He waited patiently as the entire crew walked towards him. The young man greeted them, bowing to Diego.

“Master Varen,” The young man began, “It is great to see you again.”

Diego bowed back.

“Likewise,” Diego replied, “But Padawan Lor, please remember to just call me Diego. Titles aren’t my favourite things in the world.”

“And please don’t call me Padawan Lor,” He answered back, “Just call me Lakam.”

Behind Diego, the old Jedi Master, Jolee Bindo stepped forward.

“Now if you two young men could stop arguing over names we’d like to be called, could we get to the Jedi Temple,” He interrupted, “I would appreciate the opportunity to sit down.”

Diego smiled. The old man always made him smile, whatever he said, even in any time of trouble. In fact, Jolee was the one person Diego respected the most out of his closest friends, who were his companions.

“Come on then old man,” Diego joked, “The grass isn’t going to grow all day.”

Jolee grunted, remembering the days he had lived in the Shadowlands of Kashyyyk, where there was nothing but trees and grass.

Diego and Lakam walked on in front, the two of them close together.

“How have things been?” Diego asked.

“Fine thank you master…” Lakam began, before remembering what Diego had told him, “I mean Diego.”

Both Diego and Lakam and the rest of the crew remained silent for the short trip to the Jedi Temple, home of the great Jedi Order.

This is a very good chapter. The only thing is that a little bit of the plot is covered in a longer chapter. Try to extend the chapter a little bit and summarize the unimportant parts, such as quicken the dialogue with Lakam.

But very good . . . I'll be waiting for more chapters.

A very good chapter here, Topsite.

There was only a couple of Punctuation missed opportunities, but nothing major. So no need to worry aobut that.

I, myself, think that it was the right size of a chapter. Nothing to big was revealed or explained, and it was just well written.

Looking forward to the next chapter. :)

This entire Fan Fic may recieve rewrites (With the same storyline), since I've been busy writing non-SW Fan Fics and I think I could improve this. Luckily, I haven't written anything, beyond Chapter 1. I will edit these posts sometime in the future. Just thought I'd let you know.
