Recommended Posts

There's a new New's Article posted over at SWK, however for a few of you AHTO-nuts that don't visit SWK regularly.. here's the skinny ;)

------------------

With StarWar's 30th year anniversary nipping at our heels (tomorrow from the date of this post)... CNN has posted a list of a few highlights to keep your eyes out for. For the full article, you can visit CNN HERE

One highlight to set the VCR for is the History Channel's documentary "Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed." airing Monday, May 30th at 9pm ET.. For a full list, read CNN's article, or for a 'snapshot' of what's to come....

With the film's 30th anniversary Friday, celebrations are kicking into high gear. Besides the History Channel special, set to air 9 p.m. ET Monday, there are:

  • Several books (notably "The Making of Star Wars: The Definitive Story Behind the Original Film" [Del Rey]);

  • "Star Wars" weekends at the Disney-MGM Studios theme park near Orlando, Florida;

  • "Star Wars" Celebration IV, beginning Thursday in Los Angeles, California;

  • 30th-anniversary action figures, released by Hasbro;

  • A screening of all six films on Cinemax on Friday;

  • And even "Star Wars" postage stamps, to go along with all those R2-D2 mailboxes that the United States Postal Service has installed around the country.

Every single one of those is in america only. :(

hmmm.. good point. :(

I've tried, but to no avail, of finding non-US celebrations..

so I, and other members of the forums would really appreciate it if anyone knows anything going on in their Country/Region/Territory/Backyard.. hehehe.

Feel free to post here and I could include it in an SWK report to celebrate the big StarWars Global 30th Anniversary celebration :D

The BBC has run an interesting series of articles on the birth of Star Wars, if anyone cares to take a look.

Edit: They've uploaded a report that the BBC ran in 1977 showing the countless hordes of people waiting to see a showing of Star Wars.

You know, id rather go to the one in LA than london. If they are planning another Celebration in the future, id kill to go to that. I wished i could have gone to this one but ive had no money. I know if i went to the London one id be the only one there, Americans are more open about geekdom than the stern-quiet british. Tis why i want to move to America in the future.
