Meeshman
I read http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=143293 and then eddited PMHC01 to lookn like a zabrak. The tut says don't cut or slice and don't change the number of verts, so this is probably the best I can get it. The skin looks like it has lots of seams etc, but that is because the render is lit in max, also in my experience, models looks smoother in Kotor than in max. In order to make it look like the horns are horns, would I need to make a new UVmap? If so how would I do this?
spyblade
I'm really sorry to respond to your thread with no way to help out, but it looks really cool so far. I hope that someone with the knowledge responds.
Kristy Kistic
Adding a new uv map would require recompiling the model with model ops - which will end up messing up the animations for the head and often deforms the model. I've wasted a lot of time trying to do this myself. You'd be better off trying to edit the texture to match your changes or make a completely new model of just the horns itself and add it as head gear or a mask like I did in the shot below. WOW!, Kristy, thats amazing, much better than Bao dur's excuse for horns, lol. Is there any chance of releasing that mod? As i can't see it on your site. As i can't see it on your site. Not trying to hijack this thread, but I never released it because I was never satisfied with it. The head itself has a seam across the top of the forehead (because of the original author's uv mapping) that just doesn't look right to me, I never found a gradient for the face tattoo I that was happy with, and as you can see in the screenie, the horns don't light quite right. (They look rather dark.) I'm not sure how to correct the lighting as they look just fine in gmax. If I ever get around to finishing it (as in I'm actually satisfied with it) I'll release it. Meeshman
I got it ingame, but the head is not completely attatched for some reason! Hopefully the giant seem is a texture problem and not the model. Soz for the non existant anti alliasing! edit: here is a render, how do I fix the seam?? L0rdReV@n88
does that seam happen when armor or robes are equipped and even if it doesnt that is really awesome looking. i wish i still had the mod that i was making, oldflash had made me a horned headgear for my reskined head to resemble maul but my old hard drive is toast and i never got around to posting it anywhere
Kha
I got it ingame, but the head is not completely attatched for some reason! Are you using MDlops or Taina's Replacer to compile the model? Because MDLops screws the animation, the position of the head in the model, and make the seams more visible.
Meeshman
Yeah I'm using MDLops, thanks for the info! I'll recompile with taina's replacer and see how it goes! EDIT: Can someone please provide me with a link to Taina's Replacer, because I can't find one and without it this will never be released!
Meeshman
So thanks to kha I got Taina's Replacer and there some good new and bad news: His head is no smooth with no seams The animations work correctly but his ear and scar on the right are missing and...well see the pictures. I would really appreciated some help!
Fredi
I want it!!!..... when is commin out?
Kha
So thanks to kha I got Taina's Replacer and there some good new and bad news: His head is no smooth with no seams The animations work correctly but his ear and scar on the right are missing and...well see the pictures. I would really appreciated some help! I think those wild points is the missing ear! Some sources of problems: 1. Have you used the original head model from the game when the Replacer asked for the original .mdl, .mdx and -ascii.mdl files? 2. Have you checked the coordinates of all the meshes that you really changed and unchecked the ones you didn't changed? The same with the UV coordinates if you have changed them too? 3. Have you created the .mdx file correctly too? About the scar you could paint it in the texture, but for that you would need to change the UV Map to avoid have it in both sides of the face. Meeshman
In response to your second point, it automatically checked them all and I just hit ok. What is it that I should be doing? BTW I have changed nothing on the UV map and it is not neccessary to. EDIT: Yes, I fixed it, i only eddited the head mesh but I replaced all the meshes! Thankyou Kha I couldn't have done it without you! This will probably released today, depending on how long it takes kotorfiles to upload. Firstly I am going to do a number of reskins, some with tattoos some blanc, I am going to make it 512*512 to (double resolution but works fine on my crappy Radeon 9200) to allow for more detail. Just so you know, the horn placement is loosely based on Darth Maul's to allow for reskins, but it is not perfect. Ok, so I am going to do 4 versions 1) my personal one that I will use light - dark but emphasis on light 2) Bald no tatoos light to dark 3) If you provide me with pictures or detailed description I'll have a go I will probably keep the eyebrows, because wookieepedia says zabrak can't have any facial hair, but I have seen pictures where they do so I'm undecided.
