KOTOR mixed with...Neverwinter Nights?!?

For those of you who have played NWN or NWN2, you will know that it comes with a toolset. You can create your own campaign, or go online and find a bajillion that were already created by other players. Even if you never went online, this provided near infinite replayability.

I'd imagine this wouldn't be too hard to implement in KOTOR 3, and would improve its replay value many, many times. What do you all think?

I agree, but there's something to consider.

Neverwinter Nights was created with the goal of bringing D&D gameplay into a credible video game world. Think of it this way: Bioware first created the engine and then breathed in the content, the story, the characters etc. So the engine and the gameplay is more important than the story.

In KotOR, the story has the importance - the characters, the quests etc. So Bioware made that first and then used the engine for NWN. So the goal is to create a more entertaining experience, rather than a technical game.

The toolset was included because NWN is a very, well, divided game. You can separate each of the game's components and have them work the way you like, and modify them. Hence, there was lots of modding potential. In KotOR, the engine isn't that blocky and is more integrated. The developers wouldn't see much modding potential in a adventure-themed KotOR and so... well...

I just don't think it'll happen. :p

It's not going to happen. KotOR series are SP games. NWN was as originally released a Toolset with the SP game as an after thought. NWN2 is SP game with the Toolset as an after thought.

So, it will be named... Never-Yoda Nights?

Well, a devkit like that for fans to make their multiplayer role-playing servers... sounds like a nice idea. Unfortunately it is unlikely that this would ever come true. Star Wars game are usually more themed, sotrylined(or railroaded) and not the free-form type where you can choose to spend eons lurking around town killing goblins(or stormies)

Don't forget that the Kotor games where created for consoles first and then released for PC .

And we all know consoles are limited , so Bioware never needed to give a thought to make a Toolset .

Perhaps with Kotor 3 they could change their mind if they ever going to make a third game .

The toolsets have nothing to with the games coming out on the X-box. It has do with GL wanting very tight control over the SWU.

I'd like to see K3 with some sort of Morrowind influence.

Like instead of pre-set heads or mods, you could adjust the texture, shape, color, ect. Better armor customization too.
