Mindtwistah
What do you mean by "normal" maps?

Xarwarz
Normal maps You know the blue bump maps used with dds textures...Doom 3 has them, oblivion has them...... I noticed there where some in the game but when i put my own in nothing happens. Now i was wondering if anybody had an idea on how to get the game to recognize normal maps and hieght maps
T7nowhere
Those are bumpmaps not normal maps. Well I have tried a few times to get them to work with my models, but no matter what txi settings I set the game just couldn't handle them. it mostly just made my game crash. magnusll
If you mean adding them just to render the textures (i.e. combine them by modulating the respective colors), there may be a slight possibility of it working by substituting the lightmap with the bumpmap, rewriting the relevant info in the .mdl and .mdx files, and then providing "light" with another method. There's also a vanishingly small probability that the engine is able to combine three textures instead of two, and maybe in different ways that just color modulation, but that would be even more difficult to test.
