Lannus
Hi all! I'm really quite new to modding in KOTOR, and was wondering if anyone could lend me a hand with a problem I'm having. I downloaded and installed the excellent mod by stoffe that gives the player the option of being a female Twi'Lek exile, giving the player the same body model as one of the Twi'Lek assassins, and had fun experimenting with recolouring the textures to see how that all worked. The issue I was wondering if someone could help me with is changing the head of the model. Basically, can anyone tell me how one would go about making it possible for the player to have an exile with the Twi'Lek assassin's body, but with one of the regular human female exile's heads? Thanks in advance =)
Emperor Devon
It's actually relatively simple to do. Just find out the head number of the PC you want to change (that's listed in their respective entries in appearance.2da), and replace the head number for stoffe's Twi'lek with the one you want in the formerly mentioned file. Lannus
Where would I find the headnumber within appearance.2da? I'm being quite dense I'm sure, but step-by-step instructions suitable for a goldfish would help me out, lol. Edit: I think I've found the head number for the female human head I want (PFHC05 - does that sound right?) I'm not sure where to put that number to replace the Twi'Lek head. I'm not sure where to put that number to replace the Twi'Lek head. You specify which head an appearance type should use (if any) in the appearance.2da file in the normalhead column. The number you set in this column is a line number from heads.2da of the head you want to use.
Lannus
Am I wrong in trying to use Notepad to do this? Obviously I don't see the text in columns in there, hehe.
Pavlos
KotOR Tool's 2DA editor is likely the best option for this . Using notepad to edit files will lead to bleeding eyes. You can find a link to the editor on KotOR Tool's main tool bar (in between the menu strip and the area in which the files are shown). It should be on the far left and marked as "2da". Edit: Mmm... noodles

Try using KotOR Tool's .2da editor It will open .2da v2.b files http://kotortool.starwarsknights.com/ edit: *throws a wet noodle at Pavlos *

The 2DA files in the KOTOR games are not in text format, so you'll need to use a 2DA editor to modify them easily. You can either use the one built into KotorTool or the more advanced one mentioned in this thread. Using one of those the 2DA file will be displayed in a spreadsheet-looking table grid and is pretty easy to read and edit. (While there are tools available to convert 2DAs to normal text format it's not recommended that you do so, since the files will become much bigger and harder to make compatible with other mods.) Lannus
Thanks, I'll go give that a shot now! The appearance.2da file should be in my Overwrite folder, right? Because that's where it is, heh. And my eyes are bleeding a little bit after NotePad...
