brief
After applying some simple Algebra to some trite phrases and cliches, a new understanding can be reached of the secret to wealth and success. Here it goes. Knowledg is Power Time is Money as everyone knows, Power is Work divided by Time (Physics). So, substituting algebraic equations for these time worn bits of wisdom, we get: K = P (1) T = M (2) P = W/T (3) Now, do a few simple substitutions: Put W/T in for P in equation (1), which yields: K = W/T (4) Put M in for T into equation (4), which yields: K = W/M (5) Now we've got something. Expanding back into English, we get: Knowledge equals Work divided by Money. What this means is that: [*]The More You Know, the More Work You Do, and [*]The More You Know, the Less Money You Make.[/list=a] Solving for Money, we get: M = W/K (6) Money equals Work divided by Knowledge. From equation (6) we see that Money approaches infinity as Knowledge approaches 0, regardless of the Work done. What this means is: The More You Make, the Less You Know. Solving for Work, we get: W = M x K (7) Work equals Money times Knowledge. From equation (7) we see that Work approaches 0 as Knowledge approaches 0. What this means is: The stupid rich do littel or no work. Working out the socioeconomic implications of this breakthrough is left as an exercise for the reader. ------------------ "I will not yell 'She's Dead' at roll call." --Bart, The Simpsons

Guest grannen
More headache for Natty! Let's assume that a=1.5b Then this is true: 4a=6b and 9b=6a Add them together: 4a+9b=6a+6b Substract 15b on both sides and you get: 4a-6b=6a-9b It can be written as 2(2a-3b)=3(2a-3b) Divide both sides with (2a-3b) and you have proved that 2=3 PS Natty, can you lend me $3? I'll pay you back tomorrow! ------------------ and Grannen [This message has been edited by Grannen (edited August 20, 2001).]

BUT, if a=1.5b, then 2a=3b, and if 2a=3b, then the step where you divide both sides by (2a-3b) you're actually dividing by 0, and when you divide by 0 all sorts of weird stuff happens. Math is a funny thing, indeed.
