RoxStar Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Dear swampies, A friend of mine burned me a DVD with data on it, but when I got it, I noticed it was highly scratched. Windows (and linux) both recognize the disc and I can even open some of the files, but some of the others seem to be unreadable. Is there a program that can coax out the data by ripping it to an .iso and then reburning it? Are there commercial solutions to clean these types of discs? I would rather not bother him with burning another disc so, if you find it in your heats, could you hook a swampie up?
swphreak Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I think it'd be easier to just bug your friend for a new copy. The amount of work you'd probably put into getting the scratched DVD to work sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Just get a new copy and make sure not to scratch it.
BongoBob Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Indeed. Brasso works wonders on scratched discs.
RoxStar Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 Isopropyl Alcohol seemed to do the trick
Pie™ Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Alcohol seemed to do the trick Somehow it always does.
Seph Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Some people tell me if you put plain tooth paste on the scratches then rinse it the disc will work, I haven't tried it so I'm just throwing it out there
BongoBob Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 That does work, but not nearly as well as some Brasso.
TiE23 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 A day where 4 gigs of porn is saved is always a good day.
