Det. Bart Lasiter
As far as burning stuff to disc, just fire up your favorite burner program and burn them as-is. I'm not sure about the folders, but I'd err on the side of caution and not burn with folders. As for your last question, I'm guessing it won't matter. Astrotoy7
Hmmm...do you need to plug in an HDD for it to be able to work or can you just buy the enclosure and play stuff off a USB drive? there are different types available. There are ones that dont have any internal 3.5" drive option (which is actually the type my bro in law has). worth a look, these things are HUGE in asia...and will catch up with us eventually. I remember getting a 128MB usb flash drive/mp3 player from singapore in 2001... Back in Oz, no one knew what it was, and couldnt get how a 'walkman' had no moving parts... Steve Jobs/Apple didnt invent flash based music players, peeps in asia had been using them for a while before the first ipod came about. forget about the discs I tell ya ! mtfbwya

I was looking around on Ebay in the UK and I saw something like this one here, which looks quite awesome and it really is extraordinarily cheap, good stuff! Couldn't find one that doesn't use a HDD though, maybe you got a linky to one so I can check what they're all about? Cause that's what I'd be most interested in... Astrotoy7
that looks a nifty little one there negsun, and that price is awesome! Im sure you were planning on paying more than 5 squid for your divx player...!! with the left over cash you could get a drive anyway (3.5 versions are cheaper of course) mtfbwya
Ray Jones
I'd go for 2.5" since these are better to carry around and external 3.5" HDDs often require an external AC adapter and most 2.5" don't. On the other hand 3.5" offer better capacity, and maybe you don't want to take it outside anyway because losing all porn really sucks. XD
Astrotoy7
If youre plugging it in to your tv/compy then portability isnt a huge issue I guessum !! 3.5''s win on the cost front hands down mtfbwya
Ray Jones
Hands up, if I'm gonna plug it into a friend's machine/TV portability *is* an issue, and ultimately needing another power outlet too. Both can be >>> cost front, they are at least for me. I just thought Mr. Sun might want to consider this *before* he recognises he cannot use his all new and shiny 1TiB 3.5" external USB HDD drive in the park with his friend's laptop, and that he rather had forked out another handful of bucks to be able to do so. Astrotoy7
ah good ole Ray, negsun starts a thread saying he wants to burn a disc to play somethin on his ***TV*** and several posts later he's been relocated to watching his spiderman toons on a friends laptop in the park of all places !! have a few posts dropped into a tech forum bermuda triangle ?? From reading negsuns posts, we know that his $$$ are limited, a 40gb laptop drive(if you can find one) is about the same price as 250GB(or more) of a 3.5". Whereas you could pick up a 20/40/80gb 3.5" cheap as chips, especially a second hand one. If he had the cash to buy a all new and shiny 1TiB 3.5" external USB HDD drive Im sure he'd use it on a 8800GT instead Anyway, Im sure negsun knows the deal between 2.5" and 3.5" (especially now after being told by you twice), I say he now has information to proceed !! proceed! It's all about A DVD to be played in A DVD player. Not HIS. BTW, that's also far from plugging an external HDD into wherever to watch movies. PLUS, even if, from A DVD in MY DVD player ON MY TV it's so totally so not far from A DVD in ANOTHER BUT NOT MY DVD PLAYER ON ANOTHER BUT NOT MY TV. :xp: No one would buy a car that you can just drive to work and back. Eh. ped into a tech forum bermHuh? XPPPPP From reading negsuns posts, we know that his $$$ are limited, a 40gb laptop drive(if you can find one) is about the same price as 250GB(or more) of a 3.5".Err, what? First off, I seriously doubt you would still get 40GiB HDDs anywhere. Also, an external 200 GiB 2.5" HDD is about 100 bucks, and an external 200 GiB 3.5" HDD is about 70 bucks. Whereas you could pick up a 20/40/80gb 3.5" cheap as chips, especially a second hand one.Buy cheap, buy twice. Also: NEVER EVER buy cheap and/or used stuff to put and keep your data on it. Neh. :/

This isnt the swamp, CAPS SCREAMING is below the erudite standards of the tech forum ....to watch on my own telly, as the PC isn't in a good spot to watch stuff on :/ It seems it was negsuns original intention to watch it on his own TV as he cant plug his pc into his telly, and Im sure he knows what he needs to do to ensure portability now youve told him twice and yelled it once sure getting a refurbished drive isnt ideal, but if one is counting pennies, you take what you can get mtfbwya
Ray Jones
CAPS SCREAMING is below the erudite standards of the tech forumAw, crap. I was at work and just being lazy putting any tags after the second DVD so I used caps highlighting. That said, how would one caps scream DVD or TV??? Negative Sun
Awesome thread... Anyways, by a strange twist of whatever, I'm gonna have to switch my ISP, and the one I'm looking to sign up with is giving away free laptops when you sign up...Which kicks ass cause it's cheaper than getting it on finance and I get top speed wireless broadband as well...sweet Point is, I'll probably plug my lappy into my Telly if I can get one, saving me the hassle of burning or using external HDDs and whatever. (though I might still get an external HDD later on for backup purposes hehe)
