Processor help

Recommended Posts

Okay so I got a few pretty old computers and I need some help figuring a few things out.

The main thing I need is processor information.

Computer number one is a Intel Pentium I. I know for a fact this one is the slowest of them all. Just thought it would be fun to list.

Computer number two is a Intel Pentium II. I know slow right?

Computer number three is a Intel Celeron processor. I'm going to assume it will be faster then the Pentium II.

Computer number four is the interesting one. It has a AMD-K6 3D processor. This one I know nothing about so I have no idea if its going to be faster or slower then the other two.

Can anyone tell me which one is going to be the fastest processor?

Thanks very much!

If it helps any the Celeron comes in a Compaq Persario 5000 that originally has Windows 98se

Where as the K6 and the P2 both came with just 98(granted I don't really know what difference it makes if any)

But would the P2 be the same or close to the K6?

Whilst clockspeed isnt the definitive measure of speed, for the purposes of this query specifically - it will be a sufficient indicator of whether the celeron is quicker than the AMD...

As bill mentioned, you can check in the BIOS, but I dont think you would be making this query if you actually knew how to do that....

Heres an easy way >> within windows

>R click "My computer" >> select "Properties"

The system properties screen will come up showing what OS you have and listing the basic clockspeed of your CPU and the amount of RAM you have.

otherwise, you could use pc wizard which is an easy to use freeware app that gives you some basic system stats (and works in earlier versions of windows)

The earliest version of windows I used was Win 95..... seems like an eternity ago.
