Shuzer
Several years ago I tried out KOTOR2 and completed it (the obviousness of the rushed ending was rather sad :-/) but due to college could not replay the game with mods. Now that college is over I come back and suddenly find that both USM AND the Restored Content mod are released (albeit the latter in beta), and am in a conundrum; I don't know which one to pick and use for a new run through KOTOR2. I've read up on both of them and they both seem to contribute a significant chunk to the game's playability in different ways, and both seem to work (according to their documentation) with almost all mods... EXCEPT for each other. On one hand USM already has a patch to work with the also-somewhat-released M4-78 mod and already contributes a lot to the gameplay, but on the other hand the Restored Content mod would allow me to see a lot more of the story and I can't decide between the two >.< Would anyone here who is experienced with either/both of the mods give suggestions (and maybe suggest some other mods that would also be a good idea for a newbie like me to download)? I'd really appreciate the help.

You could just wait for the patch for USM and TSL:CRM to be released With regards mods; visit http://www.KotORFiles.com Mods currently installed (which work with TSL:CRM as I'm currently running through it) and recommended by me; Shameless plug; Force Fashion II (click me) Flickering Lightsaber Blades by Mono Lightsaber replacement hilts by Oldflash Sith Assassins with Lightsabers by Shem Realistic Visual Effects by Shem Bodies Stay by Space Alex and Me
Shuzer
So I'm guessing CRM is more worth it than USM based on your listing?
jonathan7
So I'm guessing CRM is more worth it than USM based on your listing? Depends what you want from a mod; USM is one of the communities finest mods. However TSL:CRM offers a complete TSL personally I'm doing the review for KotOR Files when Stoney wants it up (when the Beta is finished), and I'm also testing fixes for bugs. Though personally much as I love USM, if I have to choose TSL:CRM wins.
Shuzer
Well thank you for your input. Is it safe to assume that CRM works with most other mods aside from USM and M4-78 currently?
jonathan7
Well thank you for your input. Is it safe to assume that CRM works with most other mods aside from USM and M4-78 currently? Most mods will work, unless they edit modules, or dialogue files. If mods use TSLpatcher you may need to transfer files from the "Backup" folder. For example Force FashionII edits two dialogue files, so you would install TSL:CRM, then install Force Fashion II, then copy the .dlg files from the "Backup" folder into TSL. If you check the release thread more compatible mods are listed during the course of the thread. But any graphic and sound mods are pretty much compatible. Hope that helps! ForeverNight
Speaking of which, the TSL Visual Enhancement Mod, v2 is wonderful if you have the space to spare on your HDD. I know it has a permanent spot in my override right now.
Shuzer
Thank you for both your advice (especially the override thing, since otherwise I'd have no clue I would have to do that >_>). One last question, though this is out of curiosity more than anything: What would happen if I added both USM AND CRM? I know something in them clashes, but does it cause one to not appear, or does it simply crash? Again, this is just out of curiosity as I'm new to kotor mods. Sith Holocron
You could just wait for the patch for USM and TSL:CRM to be released Nitpicking alert: It's actually RCM (for Restored Content Mod)?

At this point you would have major issues and game breakage, most likely scripts failing to fire and dialogue not working/breaking quests or just crashing
Shuzer
Ok then, finally downloaded everything but the graphics upgrades, including the Holowan mod. I should do it like this correct: RCM, Holowan (due to the number of mods), move dialog files from backup into TSL, Fashion mod, backup, Sith Assassins, backup, then the other stuff (which seem to be graphical changes, so no backup right?). Is this order a good idea?
Lord of Hunger
Holowan mod might not work. It edits module files. And yeah, wait around for TSLRCM to be released. When that happens, someone will probably post a compatibility patch for USM instantly. The latter is very popular, though I eventually uninstalled it simply due to the balancing issues. Jonathan7's Force Fashion II mod is definitely worth downloading, though I haven't played all the way through with it. There are a number of minor reskins and fixes worth downloading if you comb KOTORFiles. Total Weapon Overhaul by BryanWee20 is very useful. Shem's Ultimate Sound Mod is one of my latest favorites, as well as his Sion reskin. Can't think of anything else at the moment.
