I figured we need one of these. I've seen vids and liked what I saw. So tell me, any of you Ahtonauts played L4d 1 or 2? I'm eying it up and feel like I want it.

I got the 1st on sale a while ago. It was fun for a while, but got very repetitive, so I moved on. Most of the fun is derived from playing with people you know, and the often hilarious situations you find yourselves in, however once you've played all the maps a few times, games start to feel the same after a while.

 

Perhaps #2 is less repetitive, but I didn't buy it, as I couldn't justify paying full-game price for a very small incremental upgrade. (And before people jump on my back here, I often don't buy sequels that are very similar to the 1st game until they're cheap, unless I absolutely loved the 1st game. This isn't L4D2 boycott rage.)

 

If you're going to buy one of them, I'd advise getting the 2nd. I don't think it's much more expensive, if at all, and from what I've heard, they've only made the game better.

I like both and have both, but honestly don't play them very often. Single player gets worn pretty quick and the online community is a little too quick to rage quit. It does, however, shine when playing with friends.

I generally play L4D2 weekly with friends, though I haven't for the last couple weeks now. I never play with randoms because the chance they are douches is too high for me, and single player is not really fun at all. But yeah 4v4 versus is the best. And L4D2 is 50% off on Steam right now!

Well, I'll probably either wait to buy L4D2 or just get #1.

 

Onliners have a real problem eh? Well, then I'll just stick with people I'm familiar with. IIRC Jedi Knight players online are of fair temperment but there are some who really need to cut back on the pills--that or up the dose.

I played a demo of Left 4 Dead 2, but never actually played the full game nor did I ever play the original title. Here, in Canada, the sequel is currently priced at $64.99 plus tax which is way too much for me. And the first game hasn't gone down much either; still priced at $49.99.

 

I'm willing to buy both games, but not until there dropped down to at least $30.00.

^^^Good Fella. Yeah I usually wait until it hits bargain bin prices though by then for this particular game I fear that'll be after people have moved on...so I'm willing to settle for ~$30-35.

I have both games. I think that L4D2 is probably a better game, but both are definitely worth playing if you have someone you know to play with. I know a lot of the people on the LF steam group have either one or both of the games, and I've played with several before, so there's always that if you don't know anyone that has it. Usually there's a sale on these games somewhere-- I got my copy of L4D2 for $30 from the Dell store a while back, you just have to watch for them. deals.woot.com is a handy place in that regard.

Yeah, I definitely like L4D2 better than L4D, but I still play it for the campaigns.

 

That and I just love to grab pills.

L4D2 on Amazon for $20+ shipping (free shipping if you buy something else for $5+). It was on Newegg w/ free shipping also but that seems like it's sold out for now.
