Astrotoy7
I only spend a limited amont of time gaming so when I finish a game, it usually goes back on the shelf. The only mods I ever tried/played a lot were the cool ladder maps for JO/JA + Mara Jade skins. Other than that, no mods at all. I was hoping you experienced gamers@Outlander would be able to direct me to the best of the best - I particularly like extra levels or maps or something which makes the game decidedly a different experience, rather than just a purple jedi jockstrap for K1 (cool as that may be). Games I'm particularly interested in mods for... XWA, KOTOR 1/2, JA, NWN 1/2, COD 4, DAO, ACREED 1/2. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance mtfbwya
mimartin
This would be a way easier question if it were for games that I have played and/or recently played. For Oblivion, Dragon Age or Fallout 3 I have a ton of suggestions. There are some very good mods for JA, but too long ago for me to give any suggestions. For KOTOR and TSL may I suggest looking at past years top mod picks by both the players and the staff.--- 2009 Vote KOTOR--- 2009 Vote TSL Not really sure where 2008 is, but I'm sure it is around somewhere. However, since you seem to play as a female PC, I will suggest (my favorite TSL mod), stoffe’s Handmaiden Choice for Females for TSL. The mod lets you choice Handmaiden instead of the Disciple. Astrotoy7
Cheers mimartin I still havent done a light side campaign for TSL so that is on the cards. I'd ask for some DAO suggestions but I think I'm going to need a while to get through the standard campaign... Ive heard you can spend 50-150 hours in it.... I wish ME2 could have been that long! For some reason, I really like looking at my femshep... mtfbwya

There are mods for Dragon Age? O-o Looks like I'm going to have to chunk my Xbox 360 version for the computer version For Kotor might I suggest the Sith Planet of Taris mod by Rueben_Shan It's pretty cool, in that it gives you a more challenging 1st planet. ^^ (plus tons of lightsabers for MOOOLAH! )
Liverandbacon
For Dragon Age: Origins: SpaceAlex's Improved Atmosphere (does too much to explain in a short post, so read its description) Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors (gives extra skin tones, hair colors, makes the eye colors more noticeable, but not unnaturally so.) White teeth. (I personally don't like seeing everyone's rotten teeth, so making them seem a bit whiter is nice. I know they didn't have toothpaste, but I just pretend they use toothwhitening magic.) No follower autolevel. (Your party members will not automatically level up when you first receive them) Circles be gone. (Removes the circles under characters. personally, I prefer this immensely.) Personal Annoyance remover. (Makes the auras of most buffs show only as a brief activation, then disappear, so no more glowing characters. Again, personal preference) More Hairstyles (what it says on the tin) Lock bash. (Lets you bash locks. Possible item destruction is configurable. Also, any party member that can undo a lock will automatically run up and do it for you if you can't.) Party camp storage chest. (Adds a storage chest in camp. Useful if you don't want to buy the whole Warden's Keep DLC for a feature that should have been in the original game) Gore adjustment. (Makes the blood look less spotty, more realistic splatter. However, it also keeps it off of your pretty little face.) More interesting boss drops. (Makes some of the minibosses drop better items.) Forced Deathblows. (Lets you configure those nifty animated special kills to happen more often. Makes melee combat look way cooler.) Advanced Tactics. (Adds a huge number of possibilities to the party tactics menu, which lets you make them far more independant.) DAModder (Mod manager. Quite useful and easy to use.) All of these DA:O mods work with each other, since I use them all. I don't know if they work with Awakening though. I'll probably update post this with mods for some of the other games when I have time.
Astrotoy7
great stuff L&Bacon! Thank you for taking the time to compile those links I'll definitely keep them in mind as I embark on DAO - I hope to receive it early next week so not long to go mtfbwya
mimartin
Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors (gives extra skin tones, hair colors, makes the eye colors more noticeable, but not unnaturally so.)
Use that one. (Adds a storage chest in camp. Useful if you don't want to buy the whole Warden's Keep DLC for a feature that should have been in the original game)
Was looking for something like that. Saves the extra trip to Warden's Peak. Thanks. DAModder (Mod manager. Quite useful and easy to use.) A must. I'm also using a mod called Dragon Age Redesigned by Dracomies. It is an easy install mod that allows you to different option to change the appearance of your party members. Originally I was only going to use it on Morrigan and Lelianna and not change the rest of the party and other NPCs. However, after spending a few hours getting Dragon Age Redesign, Pinappletree’s Vibrant Colors and More Hairstyles to work nicely together I decide to change all NPCs to Aesthetics option. After enduring that much frustration, I wanted the NPC to look pretty. Just my luck, I noticed that someone added a mod later that day that dealt with 90% of my issues in making the mods compatible. I’m also using a mod that slimmed down the elf female abdomen in Dalish Armor. Just don't remember where I got it.
Darth InSidious
For NWN2, I rather like Selea's Warlock Reworked. It buggers up 'Eldritch Doom', unfortunately, but other than that is p. cool if overpowered. Saralch's Invocation Pack looks pretty cool, too, but I've not tested it. Both of these are for Warlocks, though, so if you don't like Warlock as a class, you may want to give these a miss. OTOH, it's a useful class for MotB given its skill-set. This combo of Kaedrin's Prestige Class pack and Races of Faerun is also quite fun, IMO. On Modules, I have to admit I've not been to impressed with most of the output to date. However, what little I played of Azenn's Live Forever I thought was interesting. There's also Christian Mayr's insane, adventure-game-esque duology (meant to be a trilogy, but of part three there's no sign yet, AFAIK), A Bet, A Corpse and A Corpse, A Vote[. Played a little of the first; it was amusing, wyrd, and psychedelic. Unfortunately, I got stuck. Otherwise I probably would have kept on with this rather imaginitive thing. Beyond that, my knowledge is rather limited. For the KotORs, it really depends on your taste. I'll try and break this down into small sections, from which you can take your pick, really... I will say that these are chiefly mods I either use or intend to use on my next run-through, barring one or two of the storyline/restoration mods. I'm going to try and pick out as few mods as I can, so this is a very personal and subjective list. KotOR I Skins & Textures Power Overwhelming by NiuHaka - absolutely brilliant, and newly released. Male Head Pack by Inyri - less overall wow, but a wide selection and some nice choices, nevertheless. 90SK's K1 Robes by 90SK - really, really nice robe reskins, but don't miss the patch for this mod. Models Weapons of the Old Republic by T7Nowhere, Mono and svosh - fantastic models, and a lot of them, too. Scripting/Other K1 Force Pack by Star Admiral - Some nice new Force powers. All In One Force Power Mod by Darth333, tk102, Darth Khasei, beancounter, Andargor, & KnightFxr - huge number of Force Powers, and for a long time the Force Power mod for the game. In many ways, it still is. Storyline/Dungeon/etc ORD Mandell by RedHawke - what can I say? It adds a new planet to the game. A bit more on the dungeon-crawl side than I like, but it's still a challenging, fun mod. Brotherhood of Shadow: Solomon's Revenge by Silveredge9 - to my knowledge, the biggest story mod for K1 to date. Not a huge fan of it myself, but a lot of people do rate it rather highly, the visuals are good, and it's huge by comparison to most mods for the KotORs. Korriban Crystal Cave by Agent Xim - small, but fun addition. Conflicts with ORD Mandell, so be sure to get the patch from AX's site. Tomb of Jesset Dal'Kest by Darkkender - really, really tough to beat! Worth it if you like a challenge, though. Other Animated Launcher for KotOR I by Glovemaster - really, really nice launcher. General Authors-To-Check-Out-All-Their-Stuff List Prime, T7Nowhere, Silveredge9, RedHawke, Darth333, Mono_Giganto, Svosh, NiuHaka, oldflash, Achilles, Shem, glovemaster, Quanon, tk102, SithSpecter, deathdisco, Darkkender, anyone else I've forgotten at the moment. TSL Skins & Textures Force Fashion II by jonathan7, Marius Fett and EnderWiggin - since j7 will murder me if this isn't in, I'll put it here. Really, really nice robe reskins on offer. NiuHaka has released several heads for TSL which are really worth looking at, and 90SK has released a variety of TSL robe mods. Both are slightly more than I want to copy out at this point, but if you click their name in the links to their mods above, you should be able to bring up a list of their other works. Models Ultimate Saber Mod by ChAiNz.2da, Darth333, T7Nowhere, svosh, and Seprithro - Bit of a must, really - beautiful weapons on offer here. Final Touch by oldflash - some other really nice stuff. Happily these two mods seem to be (more-or-less) compatible. Onderon Museum Upgrade by Mono_Giganto - replaces some of the items in the Onderon Museum with stuff that's a bit more unique and a lot cooler. Scripting/Other High Level Force Powers by stoffe - really, really great stuff from the stoffe, and don't miss the 2.1 patch, either! Kreia's Assorted Robe Collection by ChAiNz et al. - an awesome blend of scripting and skinning, this is a fantastic mod and an absolute must-have. Storyline/Dungeon/etc Darksword by ChAiNz.2da - a small addition, perhaps, but another nice, innovative and fun one, that also brings something to the table - in this case, something like-but-not-a-lightsaber, without altering the game's plot too substantially. Recruitable Dustil by PrincessArtemis - I have to admit, I've never completed a playthrough with this one, but it's reputation is as the best-written recruit mod out there, and what I have played with it certainly confirms that reputation. Coruscant by deathdisco - the first planet mod for TSL. Need I say more? M4-78 by DStoney - the closest restoration of the droid planet to what Obsidian intended. Whether that's a good thing or not is really a matter of taste. Droid Planet Mod by Darth Shan - a less 'close' and more interpretative restoration. TSLRCM DStoney and zbyl2's restoration mod. Not compatible with DStoney's M4-78. TSL Story Mod by Darth Shan - expands the game a little with some after-end material and some stuff on Nihilus' ship, from what I recall. Combat Simulation Arena by stoffe - really, really fun and often quite challenging arena mod. Learning the Ways of the Force by Darth333 - a wonderful mod, which adds a 'Floating Lightsabers' power, just like Kreia uses. You learn it in-game, rather than having it available at the selection screen, which is a nice touch, IMO. Other Multi-Stim by ChAiNz.2da - four stims in one; saves a huge amount of time buffing before battle, and can be made at the workbench. Bao-Dur's Charged Armor by ChAiNz.2da - I was slightly at a loss as to where to put this, but it's a fun, useful and well-integrated mod that makes Bao-Dur a bit less death-prone. What more could you ask? Realistic Nar Shadaa Skybox by Sharen Thrawn - makes the skybox a bit brighter and fuller. Altogether an improvement, I think. Disappearing Rubat Crystal Fix by Karstedt - This fixes, you will be surprised to hear, a bug where the Rubat Crystal would disappear... very useful, if not terribly exciting. Glovemaster's Animated Launcher by Glovemaster - another really nice, animated launcher from GM. General Authors-To-Check-Out-All-Their-Stuff List Darth333, stoffe, T7Nowhere, Prime, Mono, svosh, Shem, Glovemaster, ChAiNz, 90SK, NiuHaka, jonathan7, SpaceAlex, deathdisco, RedHawke, and many others, I'm sure, who for the moment escape me. As to where, aside from KotORFiles, I'd check the "Where can I find mods?" thread in Holowan.
Astrotoy7
awesome stuff DI. Thank you for taking the time to compile those. I knew there was much I'd been missing out on! Love the sound of some of those storyline add-ons for NWN and the KOTORs. those poor console gamers... no such fun awaits them mtfbwya
Demongo
I have a few suggestions for JA: Bigger mods: Movie Duels 2: Very big mod but it's definitely worth it. Loads of fun in the prequel trilogy. The Last Command: Really nice map, reminds me of ESB 20th Century Fox A really fun map:D Academy 1.2 The true Jedi Academy awaits you. Atlantica Beautifully done map and it's fun even if you're alone. Battle Over Coruscant Awesome must-have map:) Cloud City Again, a beautiful map from the ESB. Coruscant Heights 2 Pretty good Coruscant map. DoA Flight Arena Nice open map:) Jedi's Home (JL) II A huge and enjoyable map Of course there are other great maps out there but I won't put them all here;) Skins: Covenant Elite: Nice model and skin. Darth Revan: If you like Kotor try it out:) Clone Wars Cartoon Model Pack: Awesome and enjoyable model pack:) Other: Better Saber Clash Effect: Makes the saber clashes more movie-like Dismemberment: The name says it all. Here's the Bloody Dismemberment. Main Menu Title Video(Vader vs Luke) If you're getting tired of the original shuttle leaving Yavin, I'd recommend this. I had other ones in mind but I couldn't find them. I'll edit the post if I later find them. Hope this helps:)
Liverandbacon
Some mods for DAO that I haven't played, but have heard good things about: Extra Dog Slot. (Allows you to have a full party, then use a special to summon your dog, who can function like a full party member. I didn't use it because I thought it could unbalance the game, but if you're playing on the harder difficulty settings, it might be fine.) Alley of Murders. (Pretty much the only mod that adds a full quest into the game. Full voice overs as well. Since bad VOs can really hurt a game, I'd watch the trailer before downloading, to see if you're a fan of the voices or not. I'll probably use it on my next playthrough.)
