Holty12345 Space Suits

======================================

Description: I felt Bioware should have made the spacesuits

avalible in game so i made one. Yet i found that the Yellow Colour wasnt

Very Good so i made some in different Colours

======================================

Combatibility: Yeah i editted the Apperence.2DA file which will cause some

Properlems. To Get Around this Properlem Copy the Lines 509 to 513 and put them

onto the Apperence.2da in your override to make them Both work... I think

With all those reskins, new weapons, robes, items ,quests, some people should think about making a mod with all those modifications put in , like some gigantic mod for KotOR that will change the whole game...!

I Know there was Conufsion based on the Name, The Reason i did Space Suit as the File name (Of the Texture) is Space Man, And thats a Suit

So... Space Suit

v3 will be named Differently

But what did you think of the skin?

Holty I think it would look better if you darkened the colors down a bit so they aren't so bright. I would go through with my brush set to a "color" setting, black, with a low opacity. This desaturates the color a little bit so that you retain the same color but it's just not as bright. Keep it up :)

The term I'd use is desaturate. It's always tricky to use deeply saturated colours, because they often make peoples eyes bleed. Neutral colours look much more natural (like the grass in the background; it isn't bright red, it's neutral brown).

Another thing that makes them painful to the eyes, is that you're using bright orange on bright blue. It creates complimentary contrast. What that means, is that two complimentary colours (colours on opposite sides of a colour wheel) next to each other create an optical illusion (due to high contrast) where the brain can't figure out which is closer. It's similar to black and white squares in a checker board grid; the brain wants to make sense of them by putting one in the foreground, and one in the background, but gets messed up.

Of course, it's only really noticeable because they are so saturated. Tone 'em down and you should be ok.

Colour groups to be careful with :

orange and blue (instead use browns and dark blues)

full red and green (dark reds and greens are ok)

yellow and purple (or magenta)

I think you were going for red and blue, but it because of the contrast, and the reddish background, it looks like an orangey-red.

I really like the fact that you're playing around with the patterns and shapes of the two tone colour on the armour plates. It breaks up the monotony of the standard armour.

I'll come off my artsy school high horse now :D

*Holty Attempts to Understand what RedRob is Saying*

Hmmmmmm I'll bare that in Mind

Anyway A Link to Version 3 is up on Filefront, The Name has been Changed to Iridonian Items to Avoid Further Confusion with the Actual Space Suits. It also adds the Items to a New Shop on Manaan.

I was being overly verbose, wasn't I? :xp: sorry 'bout that.

maybe this will shed some light:

That's pretty much what I was going on about high contrast messing up the brain.

Here are some other optical illusions to check out. In particular, the second last is about simultaneous contrast, and uses colours similar to your N_Leaderman_1.tga.

Back on topic - I downloaded just now, and I really do like the pattern that you used for your Leader (red, blue & black). It looks much more interesting and varied than the others. I can even rationalize the bright colours: he's trying to distract his targets so that he can move in on 'em easier ;)

Edit: I just realized that the way you've set up your TSLPatcher file, it will overwrite the appearance.2da file that people already have in their override directory. You might want to re-do that, so that it adds lines to a .2da file that already exists in the override. The patcher comes with some good instructions on how to do that. Also, here is a thread post from the tutorial.

Dynamically assign values from 2DA and GFF files to cells and fields in other 2DA, GFF and NSS files, such as the line numbers from newly added rows in a 2DA file or the field path label of a newly added field. This can be used to link together files that reference eachother dynamically, regardless of where in the files your additions end up. E.g. linking new heads.2da --> appearance.2da --> portrait.2da lines together to add a new player appearance. Or linking a new appearance.2da line for an NPC to the "Appearance_Type" field in their UTC template, just to mention a couple of potential uses.

With this feature, you'd be able to have the patcher modify your .utc files with the correct line from the .2da.
