SpookyExperiments
First off let me begin by saying thank you for taking the time to read this, as I am new (this being my first post here) and that I apologize if I have posted this incorrectly in any manner. As the title suggests, I have made the decision to begin making my own mods so I may further expand my enjoyment of the best Star Wars games to date. I have extensive experience making mods for the game Torchlight, so I am not entirely useless with the concept. However, I find that making mods for the Kotor games is quite different. I have been reading the tutorials, etc. through and through and find them very helpful, but I do need some guidance. For my first mod I am starting off small and simple. I am merely editing a suit of armor just to see if I can save it correctly and wind up seeing it in-game. I am going to use a template model and just simply edit a few values: the item history/description, actual in-game related values such as Defense and Max Dex. Bonus. Everything seems to be going alright. Except I am having serious trouble trying to edit the Max Dex bonus of the armour. I have added it to the properties list, but can't seem to add a value. For modding purposes my overarching goal here is to see if I can make a suit of armour that allows a bigger Dex. Bonus or doesn't restrict whatsoever so my ranged/dexterity based party-member can be super boss. Any and all help appreciated, SpookyExperiments
Canaan Sadow
Honestly, I've never modelled a new armor, being that I suck at modelling. But since that doesn't appear to be your problem, it's the actual .uti, that's something I'm familiar with. I belive your problem is the MAX DEX Bonus. What you need to do is go into the file and open up the Item Property Editor and use the Attribute function, then Dexterity and it'll allow you to input a value of "Random" "+1" "+2" ect. That should fix your problem of not being able to input a value. Though I just checked and used the MAX DEX Bonus and it allowed me to use a value of "Random" "1" "2" ect. Perhaps you might have a few too many bonuses/restrictions...
Dak Drexl
(^What?) I could be wrong here, but I think the "Max" dex bonus is locked into different armor types. If you go to "type" (at least I think it's that, it isn't in front of me now) it should say like "defense bonus 7" or "defense bonus 3" or something. Like I said I could be wrong, but I think the max dexterity bonus may be locked onto the different defense bonus types.
Fallen Guardian
I think you'd be right Dak. Your best bet would be take an armor with the highest max dexterity bonus and then up the defense value through the properties tab.
Scorge
Welcome to the Forums! And I agree with Dak and FG. Though it's been such a long time since I did .uti editing ( Because I always make skins and models ). Though I will try to find a solution, well just to check if Dak was right.
