gavan Posted December 8, 2001 Posted December 8, 2001 Well I've been playing this games for about a month, and It kicks-A$$. I love the game. I know it's base on the old AOK engine, but it has so much more detail then you could ever get on a new 3D engine. Plus I love the unique artwork of each civ. This game beats AOK anyday. So much more fun then AOKs any one who hasn't bought the FULL game, and is a RTS fan should love this game. This game Kicks A$$ Lucas Art. Best game yet you made, Keep it up. Anyone agree with me?
Darth_Rommel Posted December 8, 2001 Posted December 8, 2001 Yessir. I'm with you 100% on this issue!
StephenG Posted December 8, 2001 Posted December 8, 2001 I'm not trying to make new enemies but It's a good game but lucasarts could have done alot more. as gamespot said and i have to agree: "...Would it have killed LucasArts to make the sides substantially different? In Age of Kings, the Britons don't vary too drastically from the Celts because, well, they're both human civilizations that evolved along similar lines. But the only real excuse for the Gungans and the Galactic Empire being so similar is that this is the way Age of Kings did it." . it's is basically AoE with different graphics.
Agen Posted December 8, 2001 Posted December 8, 2001 Not to make enemies or osmething but i think jk1 was better even thoguh it's old..... sorry... maybe i'm jsut biased but i enjoyed jk a bit more (don't eat me please) Anyway they're making Jedi Knight 2 so i'll be happy! http://www.jediknightii.net
Jedi_Knight Posted December 8, 2001 Posted December 8, 2001 I agree with stepheng, this game even has the same techs only renamed:eek:
Guest Supreme Warlord Posted December 8, 2001 Posted December 8, 2001 It is better than the Ages of Empire because THe SWGB is an advance civs technolgy. In the AoE it is boring to command primtive armies... SWGB is much much better!!! I AGREE WITH THE THREAD ARTHUR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zygomaticus Posted December 9, 2001 Posted December 9, 2001 i love this game its fun its fun and its also really fun and last but not the least its fun and i enjoy playing it
sensai Posted December 9, 2001 Posted December 9, 2001 I agree that this is a truly awesome game, but I also agree that they should have more clearly defined each civilizations role, and maybe balanced it a little bit better. If they're going to do any of that, it would have to be in an expansion. If they create an expansion, I'd just hope that they make the civilizations a little more unique, and add some cool new features. Great game though!
Guest Supreme Warlord Posted December 9, 2001 Posted December 9, 2001 DUDE the Civs art are different from each other and they are unique man. Look at the buildings!!! shoot dude how many games have you played? zero? hey man it is okay you are entitled to your own opnion. I think you are just a tad bit crazy to say that hehehe;)
StephenG Posted December 9, 2001 Posted December 9, 2001 what about the bulidings? every civ as the same building, it just looks different. I'm not saying it's a bad game it really fun but lucasarts could have done alittle more, it more like AoK TC with flying ships.
Agen Posted December 9, 2001 Posted December 9, 2001 hello Terminator nice to see you on-the other side. see you back at JK2.net forums. Yeh i decided to do some exploring on lucas forums.... see u back on jk2.net I think LA could have done more but it's still a fun game
Zygomaticus Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 actually i love it but im not in love with it:D
Guest Supreme Warlord Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 StephenG you are entitled to your own opnion but I can say this THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!The building artwork is excellent and the only work they need to do is remove the darned Naboo and put in the VONG!!! GO VONG GO!!!
Zendjir Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 Yes, the game rulez But then again, so did AoK It's a great game, just dont give lucasarts the credits, they edited AoK. But the buildings of GB are better than those of AoK...well done lucasarts!
Paragon_Leon Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 I'm having immense fun with the game. The scope of strategy is higher than AOK with air-units and power-cores and shields, and..and... you get the picture. It's about gameplay, folks; not about how the civs look.

Guest Supreme Warlord Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 I AGREE LEON!! YOU GO MAN! I do like the art of other civs but I like to shoot it;) . I love to build a bunch of AT AT:atat: :atat: :atat: THey rule the world.
captain_drake Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 not when you knock out the airdefense and do a mass bombing raid that is what rocks
Chessack Posted December 12, 2001 Posted December 12, 2001 Originally posted by Paragon_Leon I'm having immense fun with the game. I love the AoE/AoK engine -- that is, how the game plays, how it works -- but I had gotten rather bored with the range of options available in it, after playing it for over a year. GB uses the same engine, and many similar (though re-named) options, but it also added a whole series of new things, such as those you mention. I've only been playing the more hardware-intensive games since this past August, when I finally got a nice new AMD Thunderbird-based PC... of the new games I've bought since then, GB is far and away my favorite. It uses my favorite engine, and tweaks it, and the tweak is *Star Wars* based! How can you get any better than that? May the Force be with you.
