Why I will NOT play Jedi Knight 2

Well, after reading on saber blending and how the Q3 engine was doing it incorrectly I took a long hard look at what else is wrong with JK2 and have come to conclusion that I can not play this game as it has too many other flaws.

#1. 3rd person Cross Hair this is just too unrealistic. I mean if we were able to see ourselves in 3rd person we would NOT see a cross hair! People who have had "out of body experiences" can testify to this fact.

#2. Going to the Potty In playing Dark Forces and Jedi Knight I have never once seen Kyle eat, go to sleep, or go to the bathroom. Raven is missing out on an opportunity here to add a new type of realism to gameplay. Imagine you are about to ambush 5 stormtroopers but you check your "bladder meter" and see it is nearly full! You have got to decide whether you can take the stormtroopers out in time or go to the bath room first. Raven is totally missing out on adding new puzzles to solve in games by leaving out this important new feature!

#3. Space Travel I am so sick of going to the next level and all of the sudden I am on a different planet. This is STAR WARS for crying out loud. We need real time in travel. If Kyle is traveling to a planet that is a 2 day travel in hyperspace then by golly I want to get into a ship and sit in the **** pit for 2 days playing time before the next level loads! This would add realism to the game that would silence even the most hard core realist game critic.

Until Raven fixes these gross neglegent errors, I can not play this game.;):D :D :D

<font color=cbcbff>Imagine the realism on those two hour flights....no bathroom for Kyle. Raven should make it so that by the end of the flight, he is writhing in pain on the floor after holding it so long. When your bladder reaches a certain fullness, you should be able to use it as a weapon and wipe out a whole room full of stormtroopers (depending on your level of "Force Fortitude" which is a passive ability). Kyle should learn 3 different techniques for holding it as he goes along in the game, finally making him the ultimate theater-going death machine.

Man those Ravenites are quick with the John Mullins thing... Better be carefull...

But uhm... MRJ, I asked you a question about your job in another thread, and you didn't answer so I'll ask you again.

What kind of things do you design? Levels, models, gameplay, puzzles? Basicly, what was/is your role in JKII development?

Thanks.

Sarcasm on the game you "DON'T" want to play? You bored?

BTW:

1.) In Q3A you can change your crosshair...I think, how can you have a REALISTIC crosshair?

2.) JK = FPS, EQ, D2, AC = RPG

3.) same as above :)

Gross neglegent error?!

Well, actually, fear not, there is an explanation for all of this.

1. The crosshair can be turned off I believe on 3rd person view... I think...

2. The reason that Kyle doesn't eat, sleep, or relieve himself is... well... this is a spoiler, so don't read on if you don't want to know...

But Kyle is really a droid wrapped with a holographic skin projection. How else can you explain him having this mysterious "shield" thing protecting him at all times, and the fact that his clothes never seems to get dirty after running around so many places, and the fact that he doesn't get bloody even after being shot multiple times, and how he never seems to change his clothes.

So yes, Kyle is a droid... The Empire was able to develop a machine that can drain a jedi of his "force powers", and transfer all of that energy into a droid, to make them super soldiers. Kyle was a prototype that malfunctioned and got loose from the Empire. All of this would be reveal about 2/3 ways through the game.

3. Space travel... Jan Ors is actually a rebel scum who found out about Kyle's little secret, and has been using Kyle to her own ends. She simply turns off Kyle to conserve energy in between space flights, it also give her a chance to do maintainence on Kyle. Hence, you just seem to wake up in between levels. Again, this will be reveal in JKII.

I hope this doesn't spoil the plot too much, and if it does, it's your own darn fault for reading. You've been warned earlier.

hmm, must have missed it before, but basically I do layout, planning, architecture, lighting, texturing, scripting, item placement, NPC placement, puzzles, gameplay balance, bug-testing, oversight, followup, sucking up, and getting drunk at my des-- no wait, scratch those last two, those are, um, 'mis-statements'... :o

heheh sorry I couldn't resist posting this.

I was just amazed at how people nit pick things and decided to make fun of them by taking it to the extreme.

I know Raven is doing a fatastic job.. and haven't been this siked for a Star Wars game since... well I think this is the one I've wanted the most.

Though the bladder meter does sound like a good implementation. ;):D

1) [sNEER] c'mon, you know Americans don't understand sarcasm...[/sneer]

2) I once had someone post a message about Heretic in which he said "I hate FPS action games, but I want you to know that this one sucks". I wasn't sure if it was some sort of inverted compliment or not.

that would be so incredibly lame i think i would die right there on the spot

its a game, not reality

plus, u have the gall to call these things errors?!?!?!?!

if they dont put somethin u want in the game, its not an error.... *sigh*

and if u want a space fighting/travel part of the game, why dont u write one and save the hard working people at raven about a year

better yet, go out and buy Allegiance or MS Combat simulator 2 or XvT

jk2 is not meant to be a combat space sim

and if this was all a big joke then:

NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!

nobody even puts down jk2 in humor..... ever.......
