Eternity
I'm curious to what favorite artists you guys listen to....I guess to make it simpler, your top 3 fav. singers/bands. Hmmm, mine, in no specific order: U2 Ozzy Osbourne Led Zeppelin Those are those that I would have to say I am a self-proclaimed 'fan' of...but since I highly prize innovation and quality in music, such bands as Sigur Ros, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Radiohead, The Eagles, and Pink Floyd all get a LOT of my ear. Then, of course, I listen casually to bands like Metallica, Train, Santana... How about you?
StormHammer
I was wondering how long it would take for another of these threads to arrive. I've got wide-ranging tastes in music, from Folk to Heay Metal, Classical to Country, Blues to Medieval... I can't get excited about rap, techno, punk, garage, and all the rest of it...sorry, wrong epoch. Here are some of my favourites...and I think you are going to regret asking... Rock/Metal Iron Maiden Pink Floyd Rainbow Scorpions Saxon Aphrodites Child Dio Black Sabbath Warlock Metallica (earlier stuff) Bryan Adams Whitesnake Deep Purple Led Zeppelin Queen Van Halen (some) Judas Priest Krokus (some) Wasp Anthrax ..... Blues Cream Fleetwood Mac (60's) John Lee Hooker Robert Johnson Stevie Ray Vaughan Eddie Winter Muddy Waters B.B. King The Moody Blues Jimi Hendrix Folk Steeleye Span Fairport Convention Tim Hart & Maddy Prior Joan Baez Clannad Enya Any Irish folk/jigs Medieval The York Waits The City Waits various authentic instrumental pieces Classical Edvard Grieg Holst Vivaldi Strauss (father or son, doesn't matter) Mozart loads of particular pieces by various composers Country/Easy Listening John Denver Various other country tracks/artists Barbara Streisand Judith Durham tag on a truck load of 50's/60's stuff and who can forget Weird Al? Eternity
He he, I think a lot of us try to. Can't Watch This...Weird Al's Theme Song...AHHHHHH! Yeah, Metallica's Master of Puppets was great, now it's utter garbage...I still think Van Halen has skill, but can't make a song for his life...take Eruption for example. I like Led better then Iron Maiden, I always thought of them as clones.. And, of course, Jimi Hendrix!! Purple Haze! You know who really gets me pumped, for some reason? MC Hammer. I know, I know. mike malice
Basically i have more of a narrow mind when it comes to music, espically when it comes to newer music. To me it seems most of the stuff on tv and radio are only trying to sell images rather than music. You have kids who grew up rich crying about rough poor lives simply because its whats selling. Also you see a band every once in awhile who has a unique sound but then comes 5 one hit wonders right afterwards w/ the same or very simular sound. I'm in a band myself and i hate the business side of the profession. The exploitation of the performers and markting to make them "popular". That's pretty much why i stick to the music that has the same views as i do. That is anti-establishment. True punk rock. Fav bands: -the exploited -gbh -diviates -bratmobile -anti-nowhere league some of the more popular bands: -bad religion -rancid -anti-flag -misfits -strung out LOCAL BANDS: -abandoned youth -flatline -despite best intentions -locked on -five o'clock charlie (support your local troops...... http://www.sonicdrift.com) only non punk bands i like -sublime -rage against the machine (for the simple fact that these bands more or less stuck with thier roots and noone could ever duplicate) "support your troops but not their cause"
Cracken
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band! Come on, I can't believe no one mentioned the Boss! Tenth Ave Freeze-out, Atlantic City, Born to Run, Thunder Road! Also, the Beatles (no one has mentioned them either! Every band in existence today has been influenced by the Beatles. Everyone.), the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan (How can you not put Dylan in your top 5 or 3? Talk about sheer musical and lyrical genius.), and TOFOG.
