StAtilXl Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 Do you think they will ad in something like what they had in RtCW that you can recorde yourself playing then watch it later or send it to other ppl to show how good or bad you are. they can give u tips by watching it etc.. if u have RtCW you would understand what im tryin to say.. ne ways i should go back to work
Roger Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 It's a feature of the Q3A engine, so I guess it will be in there. I think ChangKhan used it to record the footage for the trailer...
nykel007 Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 That's a good feature to put in a game. Hope it is in JK2.
JediSith999 Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 It probably will be, every engine has something like that
StAtilXl Posted March 14, 2002 Author Posted March 14, 2002 it would be good for touraments and ladder matches.. real proof compared to SS and u can show off ur skillz... i wasnt sure if Q3A had it cuz ive never played it
txa1265 Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 ... too bad I didn't know before I played MoH:AA ... I could have done an 'outtakes' video of myself getting my body strewn across Omaha beach again, and again ... and again ...
Kurgan Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 I'd anticipate many great demos (can we say "Saber Duel Theatre?") being recorded and put up on the 'net for others to view. One thing I'm curious about.. will it be possible to record demos in Botmatch or Single Player? I'm sure that would be really cool for showing off tricks/secrets and cool stuff in those instances. Any Raven folks care to comment?
StAtilXl Posted March 14, 2002 Author Posted March 14, 2002 I think you should be able to record during single player... and ive had saber battles in JK i wish i could have recorded they were so long some lasted like 20-40minutes... but jk is prolly alot different than jkII duels at least i hope... it would add another cool angle to the game i think.
L'Equa Sinar Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 If we do record replays, how much would a 5 minute replay take, caus ei know it wouldn't be like an .avi file or anything....but how much would it be?
KISS Army Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 Yes, there is demo recording in Jedi Outcast. As it was said, Q3 supports it and so does Jedi Outcast. There's even a "demos" section in the menus so you can view them all in the directory and choose which one to play. --Kenn Kenn Hoekstra Raven Software
Uber_Saber Posted March 15, 2002 Posted March 15, 2002 Thank you, Mr. Hoekstra. We bow before you. Please. Give us all copies of JO tomorrow. We beg you. *Snaps back to reality* Well, thank you anyway. I watch myself die over, and over, and over, and...

reserved_name Posted March 15, 2002 Posted March 15, 2002 i think quake 3 demos are very small files, i have some demos that are i guess 10-15 mins long duels, and they are only about 1 - 1.5 megs..... (unreal tournament demos are much bigger) (edit) but i guess that if there are many players, file size could be much bigger
Kurgan Posted March 15, 2002 Posted March 15, 2002 I knew there was demo recording, I just wasn't sure if Q3 engine games generally allowed demo recording in anything besides Multiplayer...
TUS_Tomcat Posted March 15, 2002 Posted March 15, 2002 YAY! Any of you Q3 gurus know if you can change camera angle while viewing the demo, AND also make it save that (ie next time you view get same angles again)
Fardreamer Posted March 15, 2002 Posted March 15, 2002 Demo recording is an extension of the netcode. A demo is essentially all packets that are supposed to be sent over the network in MP, stored for later in a file. That's why demos aren't more than a few megs.

Antilles Posted March 16, 2002 Posted March 16, 2002 Remember the Film room in XA? I always like to watch the space battlle again after I blow up the SSD...... and there is record mode in SWGB, so one in JO will be good and cool......maybe we can even made our "Jedi" movie ourself?
WD_ToRMeNt Posted March 16, 2002 Posted March 16, 2002 Demo recording will be good for 3 things 1) Catching cheaters 2) Training other WDs 3) Showing off
