Last night, i had a jedi outcast dream!!! lol, i dreamt a full level, but the level of the game ended in a way i would love to see in the actual game, it was a level comprise of mostly corridors and stormies, a few grans etc... but at the end i got to fight vader, but i didn't have a lightsaber, and just as he approached me with his lightsaber another Jedi (i believe it was luke in his ROTJ outfit) threw me his lightsaber then a realy good battle commenced, and when the lightsabers clashed i could feel the force of it on the mouse in my dream! oh what our minds do to us eh? :-D

Oh yeah, the JO question what do you guys use as controls for JK and will do for JO? Keyboard? Mouse? both? gamepad? plz tell me!! :o) :c3po:

I use a trackball

and a keyboard

I don't use home row like most people, I use the number pad...

8 = forward

5 = backward

4 = strafe left

6 = strafe right

7 = jump

9 = crouch

and then there are quite a few (everything except num lock) to use for force powers, previous and next weapon i set as / and *.

I use some of the ones like "end" and "page down" and "page up" over in that little group of 6 next to the numpad... and depending on how the game recognizes numpad keys I can probably use the normal arrow keys too.

I use mouse and keyboard...sometimes joystick, but not anymore since it's easier to aim with mouse...

A=Foreward

D=Backward

S=Strafe Left

F=Strafe Right

E=Jump

Shift=run

C=Crouch

been using that control since reading the Descent readme...

This is what I use for Jedi Knight:

Up arrow = forward

Down = backward

left key = Strafe left

Right key = strafe right

ctrl = crouch

0 ins (keypad) = Activate/Use

Mouse

Axis = Inverted mouse, used for turning and looking up/down.

Button 1 = fire 1

Button 2 = jump

Button 3/wheel = Fire 2

I still haven't found a great way to use force powers on the go with this setup. I still use ; and ' to scroll through them!! :eek:

For Quake III, same arrow keys, same mouse keys (minus fire 2, of course, and the 0 Ins key is for taunting. :jawa

If anybody has any suggestions, I'm more than open to take them, since my JO config will be pretty similar to QIII/JK setup.

Here's my general keyboard/mouse layout:

Mouse:

X-axis: Right/left

Y-axis: Up/down (Inverted)

Button 1: Primary fire

Button 2: Secondary fire

Button 3 (pressing the wheel): Activate

Wheel Down: Next Weapon (Obviously not for JK)

Wheel Up: Previous Weapon (Obviously not forJK)

Button 4: Whatever I make it.

Button 5: Whatever I make it.

Keyboard:

Q: Previous Force Power (Obviously only for JK)

W: Forward

E: Next Force Power (Obviously only for JK)

R: Reload (for most games)(Kick/Evasion in SBX)

T: Light

Y: Talk

U: Talk team (if available)

[: Previous Item (for JK only)

]: Next Item (for JK only)

A: Strafe Left

S: Backward

D: Strafe Right

F: Use force (Only for JK)/Whatever I make it.

G: Whatever I make it.

H: Whatever I make it.

Enter: Use Item (for JK only)

Z: Whateer I make it.

X: Whatever I make it.

C: Crouch

V: Whatever I make it.

B: Bionoculars (for most games)

Shift: Walk (I have always run selected)

Space bar: Jump

I think that's about all of them....

Obviously, this isn't only for JK or any other one specific game. But a lot of that is what I used for Deus Ex (good game.... very good). And I have a feeling I'll be able to use almost the same setup for JK2. I'll probably put the inventory items closer to my left hand however. I'm not sure where though.... provides interesting speculation while I wait for the game...

I actually don't use the mouse at all except for sniper shots. I can't use it because I'm so used to the keyboard. I use alt for strafing, the arrows for turning/forward/backward. Shift for run.

Well here's a list:

a: look up

z: look down

s: speed

d: secondary fire

ctrl: primary fire

w: pull

q: seeing

g: grip

e: absorb

c: crouch

x: jump

There's more but you get the idea. I place all my buttons around my hand. As long as I can set everything to a hotkey close to my hand I don't have a problem.

Keyboard:

c: crouch

d: Force push

alt: Asorb

shift: force power to be decided later

Will back in the day when JK first came out i used a joystick and i was actually quite satisfied with it but about a year ago it broke (after about three years of honorable service:D ) and i was forced to go with the keyboard and mouse combination. Its done me good ever since:cool: .

I used to use key board or joystick but some time ago I eventually switched to keyboard/mouse(don't remember why). Used that ever since and its worked great. I ussually use w as foward but I'm gonna move that to e instead so I have like 3 or something extra buttons to use that I will switch to force powers.

I play everything on the WSAD keys. Even Tribes2 had to be switched over, I always forgot E was move forward :D

For JO, I think I've finally come up with a proper key config for how I plan to play (Nothing is ever final! I'll try 3 or 4 configs before I'm comfortable playing)

WSAD for Forward, Back, and the 2 Strafes

Mouse 1 is Primary Fire

Mouse 2 will be Force Push

Mouse 3 will be 2ndary Fire

The Mouse Wheel will Scroll through my Force Powers

Saber will be bound to 2, The Stun Baton to 1, then all the weaps will continue up the #s (For the amount I use sabers, this is ideal).

Just like JK, I'd have C, V, B and N bound to certain Force Powers.

All I can really suggest as an idea for sorting thru weaps and force, is IF POSSIBLE, bind mousewheelup to Cycle Weapons, and Mousewheeldown to Cycle Force... And if your mouse has the 2 side buttons (or possibly more!), bind them to Force powers, or to cycle!

left arrow - move left

right arrow - move right

a - strafe left

d - strafe right

Ctrl - fire

z - fire secondary
