RichyBoy
OK guys. As the days stretch on waiting for JO, I've been listening to my SW soundtracks. My question for you is, what theme is "Augie's Municipal Band" (end celebraton music from Episode 1) a variation of (i.e. derived from) in the original trilogy? Augie's municipal band is in a major (happy sounding) key, while the theme I want to know the name of is in a minor (sad sounding) key. It's a bit more complicated to describe, but the best advice I can give to those of you who do not read music is that the themes use the same pattern of notes (i.e. up in pitch, down in pitch etc.), but sound different due to the above "key" differences. If you want a hint , highlight the text in the box below: The theme I am referring to is from the Return of the Jedi soundtrack. Whether this similarity is intentional, or just lazy composition on the part of John Williams I don't know. It may be a boring as hell topic for most people, but I just thought it was an interesting little bit of trivia to pass the time .
Kurgan
Is it the "Imperial March"?
GUNNER
While I have no idea about your question the thought of a trivia thread sounded great. Do you mind if I add some of my own to pass the time?
Boba Rhett
The ewok celebration song?
RichyBoy
Originally posted by Kurgan Is it the "Imperial March"? Nope. Sorry buddy . Actually, a lot of you will probably disagree with the answer, but I've checked with all my musician buddies and a music lecturer at my university who is a SW fan, and it definately counts as a variation/same thematic material. Keep on trying guys! btw - isn't "Imperial March" from ESB? I know it's used in ROTJ as well, but the theme I'm referring to is unique to ROTJ (and maybe Ep 1 - but I haven't got the full orchestral soundtrack for that, so I can't check. It was used in the Ep 1 game though!! In addition, I probably should have mentioned that I am referring to the vocal part in "Augie's Munincipal Band" - not the awful keyboard/trumpet parts! GUNNER - by all means add some.

Well done - I didn't think anyone would get that! For those of you who are still in the dark, listen to "Augie's Municipal Band" and then the Emperor's Theme (not a proper track title - but it is basically the name of theme as it's only used when Emperor Palpatine is on screen) at about at 07.45 minutes of track 7 on CD#2 of ROTJ. The theme is used elsewhere on the CD, but that is my favourite rendition of it (coz of the trumpets that come in later with the theme - guess what instrument I play !). Anway, respect to Boba Rhett. Let's post some other SW trivia questions here to keep us going while we wait!

Cracken
Yep it was electrical tape. Ok, smartasses, betcha can't get this one: In the original ESB shooting script, Han Solo said a line in answer to Leia's "I love you." in the Carbon Freeze Chamber (and it wasn't originally "I know."). What was the line?
acdcfanbill
was it, "you make me horney baby, YEA!" no, ok, well, it was a good guess..
RichyBoy
In the fourth draft of the shooting script: "LEIA: ... I love you. I couldn't tell you that before, but it's true. HAN: ... just remember that, 'cause I'll be back..." This was presumably followed later in the script by Han getting out his Uzi and yelling "Sarah Connor?" - BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! Cracken
Wrongo, Richy. That was in the fourth draft, but not the shooting script.
RichyBoy
Does Han say "Oh Jeez, is that the time? Baby, it's been fun but I've really got to go now. I'll call you. I promise..." Seriously though, I haven't got a clue. Surely someone on these forums must know? Come ON people...
G0SP0DAR
Is this one of them things with more than one correct answer? A lot of Star Wars music is interrelated
RichyBoy
We've had a correct answer to my music question - Boba Rhett was right with The Emperor's Theme. The current question was posted by Cracken: In the original ESB shooting script, Han Solo said a line in answer to Leia's "I love you." in the Carbon Freeze Chamber (and it wasn't originally "I know."). What was the line? And I still haven't got a clue . Anyone know out there?
Miracleasd
trick question. the shooting script had no predefined response as they werent happy with that ill be back stuff. "I know" was improvised by ford at the shoot. do i get a cookie? heres an easy one. what odds did c3po give for luke and han surviving out in the cold. Kylilin
7325 to 1, or something like that? just a guess, since I don't have a copy of ESB with me so I can cheat.
