Today, 4 days before the official worldwide release of Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast by Lucas Arts Entertainment.....a warez group named Fairlight has RELEASED THE PRODUCT FIRST. So while I rant here, and moderators, please pardon me if this topic is against the rules but I'm damn sure going to share the feeling of absolute bile and disgust I'm experiencing right now, HUNDREDS OF WAREZ IDIOTS ARE PLAYING THE GAME ALREADY. FOR FREE. FOR GODDAMN FREE!!!!!!!!! So, my 64 bucks that I spent, the patient waiting. The speculating...all of it is MEANINGLESS because while I SIT HERE AND STARE AT MY RECIEPT FOR ANOTHER 4 DAYS, warez fiends ACROSS THE PLANET are DLing an ISO image file of the game and installing it to their computers and playing it FOR FREE! Theres not even a CDKEY system, NO COPY PROTECTION. Nothing. So what am I? Honest? Willing to pay for a quality product? Or just plain stupid? All I can say LEC, is that you'd better release tommorrow, because by Thursday, I'm probably going to be the only person left that won't be getting their money back for their pre-order. STUPID STUPID STUPID. Stop the hype...thats all the wait til Thursday is...HYPE. Stop the hype and release before this warez group release ruins it for you, and for me, and every other honest game buying player out there. HAVE THEY NO MIND?!!?!?!? they should have done copywrite protection..... what was lec thinking....they're not going to profit just cause there's a zillion dedicated fans, not everyone has $$$$$ and wants to pay full price for the game, so they find alternate, illegal methods. There will always be people doing illegal crap, like releasing the game for free, AND before the release date. The only thing we CAN do is to boycott those products. And personally, I bought that game for the multiplayer. You can't play multiplayer with a warez version. So who really cares. Let them play the single-player and then be done. All warez games usually do have a copy protection or CD key. They just have to crack them and edit them out using either CD key generators or splicing out the actual copy protection code. But of course, when ever a patch comes out for the game, they're usually screwed because the patch could just as easily changes the CD-key algorithm and pretty much all companies have their patches check the file sizes to make sure the programs are legit, if they're not, they're not patched. They could always crack the patch, but that usually takes much longer to do because patches are usually less known about then the actual game release. My vendetta against warez people is how they such a mix of opposite political views and don't give a rats ass of how much of an idiot they are. One of the biggest excuses I've heard for warez is that all software should be free and freely shared and not "ownable" in a sort of socialist point of view(as it was originally intended with the Internet they would claim). But what do they do? They'll charge people left and right $5, $10, $20+ for a burnt copy of a game. The only thing that can make me less mad right now, is the fact that the game has shipped from LEC....that's right it shipped 03/26/02, so hopefully it will be here tomorrow Wednesday or Thursaday at the latest......WOHOOO!! (Who am I kidding with the busting in bit?) Well, never mind the arrested bit. I like having a free conciense. Their minds are filled only with illegal BS. I don't want to be like that. I'll have the game soon enough. I'll slobber over the game. I don't give rat's a** about them. Basically, I'd much rather wait a few more days, and be in the clear, than like them.
