Kalugny
I had Grim Fandango for a while, and enjoyed it very much. Recently I wanted to play it again. It was all fun until I got to the 3rd year and everything went crashing down. It turns out I have a scratch on my Disc1. It appears that year3mus.lab is destroyed. Is there something I can do? Is there somewhere where I can get that file? Or am I doomed to be Grim Fandango-less for ever? Your help is apperciated. Very much so. Kalugny
What's warezed? How would someone who doesn't own the game (besides, anyone should own it) benefit from one file that contains the music for the third year? Anyway, I did as you said and e-mailed LucasArts. I hope they'll be able to help.
MeddlingMonk
You could try a scratch repair kit. They work very well. But...lots of crashes in year three is something that happens to GF in its unpatched state. Drives are generally tolerant of scratches (deep gouges, though...). If you haven't patched this installation, you should. Are you sure there's a problem reading year3mus.lab? That is, have you tried copying it to the hard drive? Kalugny
Yeah, I tried copying all the data files to the hard drive, but I couldn't copy year3mus.lab. It just couldn't copy it.
MeddlingMonk
Well, that's 'good' (in the sense that you tried, of course ). You should, then, try to repair the scratch. Serge is fond of recommending toothpaste for this. Can't hurt (literally).
Serge
That depends on your brand, really, doesn't it? And how do you know I'm fond of recommending tooth paste anyway I've only mentioned it once (well, on the web at least ) - Serge
Kalugny
Which brand of toothpaste shall I use, then? Colgate Total, so it'll protect it all day long? But seriously, I tried some scratch repair program. But before I had to check it out it turned out I had another problem! I can't install GF. It says I have "insufficient memory" when I run the setup program. That seems unlikely, however. What could be the problem? The scratch? I son't think so, because I did manage to install it after it was damaged. Can it be the it's not compatible with my new Windows XP? Please, good people, I really want to play this game again...
