Stop for a minute....

We all know there is a lot of critisism about the Phanthom Menace.

We think, we are a bit spoiled by computer games, movies, TV, internet....

So it's hard to get impressed these day's.

So whats your opinion about this. (Just curious)

GREETZ MIMA KAKE :yoda:

There has never been a case where a review has altered my opinion of a movie. I cant say that for games though, but that is because i have a very excellent site dedicated to brutally honest reviews. However, for movies, i ALWAYS judge for myself. Some people are just not satisfied when it comes to movies for some strange reason. Critics are completely pathetic...im not even gonna go there.

So go see it before you judge it! $8 (Cdn.) is more than worth it to seeing a potentially awesome movie (which i think EpII will DEFINATELY be).

I agree with tha.

But if you take a game for instance it's more expensive than going to the movies.

So I reccon you wil be pretty upsaid if you pay $50 or €50 a game

and the game suck big time.

so i reccon it depens on the crittic himself too

good point, but a critic can spoil the experience with the game too. when a critic in a game mag says that jk2 has bad level design, you'll look more for the flaws the game has. maybe you wouldn't have noticed the flaws and above all wouldn't have looked for them if the critic hadn't said so

With critics, we also have to look at how unbiased they are in their review. If someone doesn't like the kind of puzzles that JK2 offers, that personally they don't like jumping puzzles, then they will say that the level design is bad.

There is some case with the Unreal/Quake style of gaming, that it should be all straightforward action, who needs to waste time on trying to solve puzzles, etc. It has always been the part of the SW games experience with larger levels and the use of Force powers to solve puzzles. Some reviewers may have never liked the Quake series of games, just mindless shooting, no real challenge, just get on the fire button ASAP.

As for The Phantom Menace, I think it was a case where we knew the ending and were wondering about how they would start the story. The plot had to be full of questions to be answered, spaces to be filled in from Episode 1 to Episode 4 as to where character development went. It couldn't answer ALL the questions that we wanted to know, as that would leave no more movies to make. It was a movie deliberately designed to be part of a series, that watched by itself wouldn't make as much sense as when watched in the series. So when compared to other movies out there, TPM wasn't necessarily a "great" movie, but a building block in the telling of a story in one of the most successful movie franchises.

We are too spoilt with the leaked information/disinformation on the Internet, that there is so much EU to deal with in the 25 years since ANH was released.

I really can't see how critics can still be bashing TPM, because it was, in fact, a HUGE success. In overall US ticket sales, it is fourth. The only movies that made more money are Titanic, A New Hope, and E.T. Just because the fans don't like certain aspects of the movie at the time does not mean that the movie failed. After all, how many people like C-3PO from the beginning?

I was kindof confused as to the plot in TPM, I thought it was a pretty cool movie, Jar Jar wasn't as bad as the so-called fans make him out to be, I knew he had a bigger purpose, cause Qui-Gon wouldn't have taken him along in the first place. I think George Lucas knew that the fans wouldn't like Jar Jar, he wanted to do something different, and have him be a bad representation of the Gungans.

After reading Cloak of Deception and Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter, TPM made perfect sense.

O.K. So if all those thousends or may be millions of people like the phantom menace (And they will like attack of the clones as well, I mean i know i will)

Could it be that the critics see it, just like another fx movie,

and dont realize that for alot of people think its a little more than just a movie.

And I think they (the critics) don't see the 6 episode as one big story.

And be fair, it is always easy to give crittisism on something.

My opinion is if you don't like the movie, well try to make one your self.

And you will see its a hard thing to do.

most of the reviewers try to look at a movie as objectively as possible, and yes, that does usually include viewing it as a 'standalone' movie...they did not necessarily like tpm because it was not a good movie by movie standards...i dunno....people will definitely love aotc compared to tpm....but i could be wrong...oh well....it doesnt really matter what people think, does it? :)

Dont read any hype , dont read any reviews go and see the film first before someone trys to make up your mind for you its all a jedi mind trick. By the evil empire we call the media. No seriously i dont think george lucas would waste the last three years on movie that was bad, from the clips ive seen the movie looks great from the 10 or so minutes that have been aired. esp the fight scenes of course with nick gillard still in control we will be in for such a feast. but just remember there is nothing to worry about i will be great trust me:fett:
