His wrists?

Webbing out of his WRISTS? Most spiders produce their silk from something called a spinneret, it's located at the tip of their abdomen (aka the spiders bum)...can you imagine him shooting webbing from his butt? And then swinging on it? HA!

And if you want to address the money problem, you've got the ESU angle AND the money he made during his brief wrestling stint.

At least with webshooters there's an answer to the amount of pressure it would take to shoot a line of webbing a 100ft or more. He'd have to have glands the size of soccer balls to produce enough pressure otherwise.

I mean, couldn't they have just made it so he 'milks' some atrophied glands for certain of the proteins needed to produce the webbing? He adds that to a liquid polymer and it catylizes it upon contact with air? He is a scientist after all, and as they say, necessity is the mother of invention.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but intend to.

But out of his WRISTS?

I've heard that the music is mediocre - is this true? Pity, especially comign from Danny Elfman, my 2nd fave film music guy behind Williams (I still love his Batman soundtrack). Specifically I heard that there isn't a central theme you grab on to.

(unfortunately I'll not be seeing the flick anytime soon - my kids are too little, wife has no interest ... oh, well, we'll be doing EPII anyway ...)

I thought the fate of the goblin was really corny. I mean, can no movie ever get past this???In almost all fighting movies there has to be one of those. So stupid. And, as adressed earlier, IF HE WAS ACTUALLY MAKING HIS OWN WEB IT WOULD COME OUT OF HIS BUM! YES HIS BUM!!! NOT HIS WRISTS!!! NOT THE DAMN WRISTS!!!NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Btw, in the new Ultimate Spiderman comic books, parker has an entire laboratory in his basement, because when his dad died he inherited all of his lab equipment. It seems his dad was working on some polymers at the time, and peter was very interested in it. Well, guess what, he does alot of hard work and research and finally creates something we know as his 'webbing'. it is really a very elastic and sticky substance that can hold alot of weight. He does not disclose it to the public because he doesnt want to reveal his identity.

This movie is awesome. Easily the best comic book movie since Batman, and maybe it's even better (it's still to fresh in my mind to tell). The acting was great, the story was good (very accurate in most respects) and the music was great (Danny Elfman is a god).

I didn't even mind the organic webbing, in fact I kinda preferred it.

My three biggest complaints about the film are:

1. No Gwen Stacy

2. Macy Gray was in it (ick)

3. Not enough Bruce Campbell

Everyone should go see this movie. Or I'll chop your damn head off!

Why are you guys complaining about the dispensing of web? I've been reading Spiderman for years now and I think this is how should have always been, the web coming straight from his wrists. I think Sam Raimi did an absolutely phenomenal job on it. Remember, he's been a Spiderman fan longer than probably any of us, so I think he knows what is going to work and what isn't. Imagine if a non-fan had written and/or directed it. That's scary.

I think this movie was great and deserves to make as much as it is.

Yeah, i know it happens in comics, but IN THE BALLS? Give me a break. I always thought it hit him in the lower chest, or stomach.

Ha ha ha

I knew this was you man. You said the same speech to me at work.

Anyways yeah, the movie was awesome. Awesome comic book adaption. There were slight changes in the movie but most of them were for the better. Like the organic shooters. That was a nice touch.

The whole feeling of this movie was true to the comic. I really enjoyed how most of the first half of the movie was just character development, the way a Spiderman movie should be. Character development is one of the most important parts of the comics.

I wasn't all too happy about how the X men movie turned out. But Spiderman has brought me joy again since Batman.

The score is done fairly well, but the opening theme had tons of batman-like sounds in it. I kept saying to myself, "Is this really Batman 5?!"

So the fact that a spider biting a man could totally alter his own DNA patterns overnight is acceptable but the fact that the spinneretts are in his arms is bogus? You guys have got to be crazy. In spidey 2099 he had spineretts in his arms...

The movie rocked. There were deviations from the comic book plot but there always are in movies. If you want to get nit picky, Spider-Man didn't know Harry Osborne or MJ until he reached college and his first fight with the Green Goblin didn't end in Osborne's death. There were deviations but the characters, were, I thought, spot on for the most part (I also missed the more frequent wise-cracks of the comic Spidey).

This was hands down the best comic-to-movie translation that I have ever seen. Hands down I say!!! The movie captured all the sides to Peter that Stan Lee tried to portray in his comic book masterpieces: comedy, trajedy... love and hate. And a beautiful cameo by Bruce Campbell I must say. Im glad that the movie has been hung up in legal and production issues for so long because now they were finally able to do it the way it should be done.

I thought it was amazing for the most part. Having "constructed" web shooters would have been truer to the actual story, but I just accepted the web shooting out of his wrists.

Other than that it follows the comics "origin" story pretty closely.

Tobey Maguire was phenomenal - Kirsten Dunst as well.

Willem Dafoe needs serious acting lessons

Bruce Campbell was in it????!!! Where? I'm a big fan of his and I didn't even notice him in the movie! DOH!

Good flick - go see it

He was the announcer in the wrestling match. I was like... I KNOW that guy looks familiar. Then when I actualy heard his voice I knew it was him. Nice cameo there.

My gf saw Stan Lee in the crowd when the Goblin bombs the terrace but I missed him.

It annoys me that I caught the half second Stan Lee cameo, but utterly missed the Bruce Cambell Cameo...bah

There are also many shiny things. Do you like shiny things? I have a shiny nickel for you right here:rolleyes:

What was wrong with Willem Dafoe? I thought his GG was excellent, and his Norman Osbourne was pretty cool too.

I'm going to pull a Homer and ruin it for you all:

Peter Parker IS Spiderman!!! . . .How 'bout that!? >:)

ROFLMAO @ Vestril!!! *sigh*

Great show; good job, Sam Raimi. . . everything a super hero movie should be - even had an in depth love triangle (er, .. square, maybe) for those XX chromosomers out there. :) Although, it had me aching for the sequel after it was done (even before I had heard of the sequel - it was pretty obvious THAT would be a given).

As far as the changes from the comics? i.e. web-shooters, they had fun with it, and I actually liked them better! If he has ALL the greatness of these genetically-enhanced super-spiders yet CAN'T shoot webs from spinnerets. . . . THAT would be lame.

LMAO, oh. .. everybody should rent the old 1970's/'80's flick: Spiderman: The Deadly Dust. I LMAO'd!!!! THE CHEESIEST dialogue, FX, etc. I've ever seen (My brother and I had to rewind parts they were so "good") . . .. ugh, just thinking about it makes me queesy AND smile at the same time. Good for a laugh! It's a trip!

Hey, if my girlfriend (who is very anti-comics) loved it, then everyone should like it. I mean it...she went just because I was practically salivating over seeing it (and it was paybacks for all the chick flicks she made me go see). My roommate went with us, and he was 1000% positive it was gonna bomb and they both absolutely LOVED it! The acting was great, the story was really awesome, and even though Spidey didn't use a lot of his "snappy patter" in the movie, it still had some humorous moments. I liked the X-Men when it came out, and still do, but as far as adaptations go, Spidey wins hands down...

heh, I hope they have the Hobgoblin in the next movie...I always liked Hobby over Green Goblin...
