Hannibal
Those are cool!!! I didn't *cough* pay *cough* for it. There are ways you know. :tsk: "Ways" are interesting. Sometimes "ways" put music on computers that wasn't there before. In that way they are more magical than interesting.
AgentSmith
"Star Wars Republic #50 Attack on Kamino" contained the story "Brothers in Arms", story by John Ostrander and art by Jan Duursema. It featured Aayla Secura. (Next to Quinlan Vos, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.) I loved the artwork in "Brothers in Arms", it's amazing, Jan Duursema clearly is the best Star Wars artist out there. It also contained a great story and a lot of character development and insights, especially for Obi-Wan and Anakin, but for Aayla and Quinlan as well. Aayla is seen piloting her Jedi Starfighter and battling Seperatist droid fighters alongside her fellow Jedi. But the scenes where Aayla interacts with Anakin were real jewels, the panels were truly great - it was nice to see Aayla in her usual atire again, though she looked great in the undercover outfit seen in "Sacrifice". Aayla agains affirms she has become a mature and even wise Jedi knight, she appears to be a stable and radiant presence to Anakin in this issue (and Quinlan in general). She has overcome many challenges and clearly learned a lot from them. Her character stays realistic though, when Master Kossex is killed in battle her facial features clearly express frustration and grim determination. A must-have for all Aayla fans! AgentSmith
For those interested, there's 2 wallpapers made from artist Jan Duursema's great cover art for the upcoming "Republic #54" comic -featuring Quinlan (Aayla's former master) and Khaleen- up at the TheForce.Net Fanart Museum. One is in black and white and the other in color.

AgentSmith
I finally got Star Wars Insider #66 and the "Elusion, Illusion" Aayla Secura 'Clone Wars' story written by Mike A Stackpole was great! He did especially well in writing Aayla's dialogue and her subsequent characterization. (That which she says and how, approaches her protrayal in the comics by Jan Duursema and John Ostrander.) It also offers a more intricate view on Aayla's initial reactions to the battle on Geonosis and a good prelude to "Star Wars Republic #49: Sacrifice" -which takes place later on the timeline-. The story offers some great moments, descriptions and insights into Aayla. It was awesome to see the stunning illustration Jan Duursema made for the story up close and in high resolution. The many details in it are exquisite and the coloring by Joe Wayne was great. (I like how it preserves and even enhances Jan Duursema's detailed pencils.) I like the dynamic action pose and fluid movement in it, Aayla is so stunning when drawn by Jan Duursema. A cool detail that I hadn't noticed before from the version at starwars.com is that Aayla's eyes stare directly off the page, at the reader. (She doesn't look towards any other character on the page but looks straight at a point off the page.)
AgentSmith
Here follows a summary of the events in "Elusion, Illusion" the Aayla Clone Wars story by Michael A Stackpole from "Star Wars Insider #66" *Warning: Spoilers ahead!* Only seven days after the battle of Geonosis Aayla is summoned by Master Mace Windu to lead Caamasi Jedi Ylenic It’kla on a very sensitive and important mission to Corellia, which has chosen to remain neutral in the Clone Wars. Disguised as smugglers, their goal will be to extract former Techno Union scientist Ratri Tane, who has fled to Corellia with the files and prototype of new droid circuitry. Mace warns both Jedi to be weary of Gotal mercenaries, commonly found on Corellia, who are able to sense emotions and perhaps even the Force. Aayla wonders if Master Windu has made a conscious and confident choice in putting her in command of this mission, since there already seems to be more than meets the eye to this assignment. She is confident in her abilities, yet not free of doubt so that she would be arrogant. While Aayla and Ylenic travel to Corellia, both discuss the role of the Jedi in the Clone Wars, her being assigned on this mission and while mysterious still Ylenic expresses his confidence in her abilities. After arriving on Corellia and Aayla selling their cargo -all to enhance their undercover identities- both Jedi head to the “Homestar”, an establishment of which they learned most visitors seek passage off-world. They estimate the possibility of encountering Ratri Tane -who seeks to leave Corellia for a safer haven- there, is high. Soon after both Jedi enter the “Homestar”, Ylenic spots Ratri Tane. Unfortunately Gotal mercenaries are also present in force and also head for the former Techno Union scientist. As a stubborn Toydarian trader called Lorfo continues to try and persuade Aayla into another trading scheme, she almost unconsciously flicks him away with the Force. This alerts the Gotals and an all out fight erupts between the mercenaries and Jedi, in which Aayla shows her expert combat skills. In the ensuing panic however, the Gotals have captured and led away Ratri Tane. Aayla and Ylenic are forced to justify themselves before Corsec security inspector Rostek Horn, who after confirming their identities as Jedi lets them depart, not without expressing his concern for the preserved security and neutrality of Corellia in the Clone Wars conflict. The Toydarian Lorfo finds the Jedi and informs them he can -with compensation, off course- lead them to where Ratri Tane is being held. Aayla and Ylenic sneak up on the Gotals holding Tane in a warehouse, all the way careful to not give their position away by using the Force, but find that Lorfo has sold them out and they are discovered. Seperatist operative Tendir Blue holds scientist Tane at gunpoint and next to his Gotal mercenaries, has several battledroids appear from hidden locations to trap the Jedi. Forced to surrender their lightsabers, Aayla has a Force vision in which she sees another lightsaber fly to her hand and Tane get shot by Blue before she can reach them. The Gotal alert Blue that Aayla is using the Force and everything happens as in her vision, Tane is shot at close range by Blue and falls to the ground, a lightsaber flies into Aayla’s hand and immediately she dispatches of all the battledroids. As the battle ends she discovers that Ylenic has taken care of the Gotals while Tane, who is alive and well, has used Aayla’s lightsaber against Blue. As Aayla now suspects, this Tane is a decoy and in truth Corellian Jedi Master Nejaa Halcyon. (He addressed her as one of the heroes of Geonosis, but Aayla says that the others who were there where the real heroes.) It turns out that Ylenic, long time friend of Nejaa was into the plot, along with Inspector Horn and Lorfo, all designed to make the Seperatists believe that Tane was killed and the stolen information returned while the real Tane is safe and well and the Republic still has his plans and prototype. Aayla feels she was too easily taken by this plot, and too gullible for not seeing it, leading her to doubt her true capacities even more. Aayla points out however that Nejoo’s plan to implant a memory into Blue, who will return to the Seperatists, making them think that the plans and prototype are safe and Tane dead, is flawed and will not work since Count Dooku will see through the false memories. It is Aayla who finds a better plan which the Jedi then execute. (To trick the sole survivor from the Seperatist operatives, Blue, to believe that the plans and prototype are safe and Tane dead. Without any risk of having to implant false memories on him.) Nejoo congratulates Aayla on her skill and excellent ploy, and Aayla with new-found confidence states that her ability to tie things up nicely was why she was assigned to the mission in the first place. AgentSmith
Last time at the Mid-Ohio Con she said she was enjoying touring the conventions but would like to work again as well, mostly in movie production and post-production as she did before but that if good opportunities in front of the camera she would be inclinded to take them. AgentSmith
Thanks Leemu, thanks leXX for the positive comments. I just try and do the best I can. Aayla Secura has been since nearly her first appearance in the comics and is still my favorite Star Wars character, so I just try to show positive and constructive passion for Star Wars this way. I feel blessed I was able to meet in person the people who are behind this great character (Jan Duursema & Amy Allen), hope to see them again one day at a convention. As such their creativity and efforts leads to us being entertained with awesome Star Wars stories and a great character like Aayla. I don't think Ms. Allen would be startled at seeing this thread, well I hope not at least! Star Wars illustrator Joe Corroney posted a report and some great pictures of the past Cleveland Colossal Con 2 where he attended, as well as Ms. Amy Allen and Justin from WorldFamousComics. Looks like they had lots of fun, be sure to check out the report and pictures and Jan Duursema's boards.
