YOu guys are idiots. Do you know nothing about Cell shading? It is only posable with these new systems power. Cell shading was imposable uptill about 2 years ago and is a very NEW technology, The use of Cell shading in games is a step FORWORD not back. It creats the posablilitys for controlable cartoons with is what games have been striving for sence their creation. Zelda looks slick and I have yet to see a BAD Cell Shaded game. Maybe you guys are just shallow and can't apreasiate the look. Your loss.

Cell shading does NOT looking childish. You might think it looks childish from the screenshots Nintendo had released of Zelda, but I think it was intentional for it to look a lot like a cartoon.

If cell shading is well known by the producers and coders they might be able to pull it off and give it an artistic look at also amazing to everybody else who "hates art".

I'm sure there are some good games coming out for the gamecube. Just glancing at the external features of Gamecube, you could see that it has been designed with children in mind. It is small, and cute looking.

If you wanted more serious games, aimed at a more mature audience a PS2 or X-box would have been a better choice.

Yeah, umm. Resident Evil childish......

I personally like cell shading, I mean because of it the Robotech Game looks just like show.

cell shading make the games more interesting. if Jet Grind Radio Wasnt cell shaded it would be just another Tony Hawk Knock off basically.

i love nintendos approach to games, it's lik eplaying a cartoon!

besides the original zelda games were all cartooney and "kiddy"

and they were all better that then n64 ones.

the SNES one being the best of course.

Wow!!! I didn't know I was an idiot just because I don't like the way cell shading looks. This is very disturbing to me. What am I to do?

In my opinion cell shading makes games look childish. I have no desire to play a cartoon (the key word of this statement is 'I' meaning 'me':) ). Robotech will probably be a great game and I'll probably buy it. But that doesn't change my opinion (again key words 'my' and 'opinion').

Thank You.

Cel Shading != childish. Jet Set Radio? That one hax0r-modify-your-car-game? Um, that one FPS that is coming out... Just like real life television/film animation you don't need to make a kiddie game when you make something cel shaded.

YES! ALWAYS WITH THE CHILD LIKE PLAY WHEN YOU MAKES TEH CELL SHADING!!!

And it is SOOOO not technically complex at all oh no.

Only twice the polys, inverted, then attached to a black pixel, just for the outline, unless you use more advaced pixel shaders, and the proformance hit is apperent either way, then there is the two-tone shading on the model, using a texture shader over the main texture, using a basic "environment maping" technique, generally refered to chrome mapping now days. Anyway, it isn't exactly easy on the hardware to do a full scene in such a matter.

Anyway, I am fairly disapointed in the way that the new Zelda looks, but generally speaking, they seem pretty neat, and yes, there are quite a few games coming for the GameCube that are rated 'M' from what I have heard, this was a decision made my Nintendo for the very reason that some people here still perpetuate, that Nintendo only has kiddy games. (Which, can still be quite enjoyable mind you.)

I will have to disagree with Spaff though, I think Zelda64:OoC is better than Ledend Of Zelda... but they are the two best. :D

Anyway, I would just like to ask people to maybe try and be... more open minded and such... I know I wouldn't be the first person to ask something like this, but eh, less not-niceness is better yes? :) Hee, anyway, uh, yeah.

Excuse me if I prefer Monkey Island to resident evil. I prefer to use my brain than to sit around staring at blood all day.

I'd like to see you make it through LOOM without a strategy guide. LOOM is one of the shortest adventure games out there by the way. If you could do that, you may revise your opinion of those with intellect higher than a rusty cheese grater as "lamers."

Good luck. If you make it through LOOM in under 20 years, I've got about 20 more games you could try...

I agree, it's good that stupidity is not contagious. I wouldn't want to see a world populated by people like you.

What the hell are you talking about? When it comes to gaming NO ONE is more serious then Nintendo and Rare.

The GameCube has been designed with everybody in mind, and you can see that the controller (unlike X-BOX) has been designed for use by both young and small hands AND larger ones. I won't bother with the PS2 controller since it was NINTENDO who designed the original PlayStation controller (hence the resembalence to the SNES).

GameCube may not be as fast as the X-BOX... but is that a bad thing? NO it is not, it means the unit is cheaper to produce. Nintendo means quality. Mircosoft means Windows and PlayStation means cheap-crap.

Oh, and I see more kiddie-games on PS2 then GameCube.

And the best game on GameCube is Super Smash Bros Melee!

=mek=
