I assume we all love Raven, we all love FPS games, and we all love JKII - or else why would be wasting our time here?!?

 

I was wondering what other JKII'ers thought about Raven's newest entry - Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix.

I do like SoF2, and picked it up on Tuesday. I had gotten SOF with my GeForce 2 card a year or so ago, and found it somewhat interesting. I was very much looking forward to playing it after really liking RtCW, very much liking MoHAA and LOVING JKII.

 

So what do I have to say so far? About a 8. Good graphics, decent gameplay.

 

Some things:

- It boasts >60 levels, but I have played on 2 lunch hours and have done 12 and am on #13. These are not big levels. I hadn't finished JKII level 1 in this amount of time!

- And you thought JKII was linear?!? Jungle ahead, unscalable mountain right, cliff left - which way to go??!!!???

- Guns are OK - but I have no hope of finding something to elevate the gameplay like the saber did.

- AI is excellent!

- Yes, I have GORE enabled. Heads blow off, people scream as their arms get shot off, gurgle after a head shot, pool blood under their bodies ... nice effect, but nothing else.

- Limited saved suck. I wish there were a 'QuickSave' option.

- I also wish people would learn from MoHAA and put in a 'Run/Walk' TOGGLE KEY!!!

 

What do all of you think ...

play half-life, please man, play it

buy it, don't steal it though, half the people who play it downloaded it for free and that hurt the company bad

half-life is my #1 choice for best games of all time

 

1. Half-Life (PC)

2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)

3. The Lengend of Zelda: Links Awakening (GB)

4. Resident Evil (GCN)

5. Comman and Conquer 1 (PC)

 

these are the best of the best, play at least the top three

you will be a better person because of it;)

 

btw, i am one of the best gamers out there...

i will not tell my nicknames though, because i have about 50+:D

Half-life single player was very good, EXCEPT the last part of the game....

 

Counterstrike sucks so badly and is chock full of stupid 12 year olds...

 

The only good mod for halflife is day of defeat, but halflife vanilla multiplayer is pathetic.
