i heard from a friend that there are plans to digitally edit jar jar into episode iv, and natalie portman into episode vi :(

I haven't heard anything about that Jar Jar rumour, but Natalie denied any scenes of her being added to RotJ, when one reporter asked about it. She hadn't even heard about it.

Don't know if Vader can really be in the movie for any length of time. For the events to happen when Anakin becomes Vader ,and needs the suit, wouldn't be the greatest move to have it early in the movie, which is what some people think might happen.

If it is to mirror the original movies, then just like in ROTJ when Anakin is redeemed very late in the movie, then also Anakin should turn into Vader very late in the movie. So I would suspect maybe 5-10 minutes screen time max.

Even 5-10 minutes is a lot of screen time, especially when you consider that Vader only had his mask of for a minute at the most...

Lucas could do a lot with those 5 minutes, and I can't wait until that moment comes in Ep 3 when you hear James Earl Jones's voice boom...that's gonna be one helluva moment and I know I'll be there opening night and I'm guessing I won't be able to hear the end of whatever his first line is lol

Actors don't always know what is going to happen to their parts...

I for one hope Prowse does come back, the way he moved, and especially his gestures were inimitable, it would complete the image of Darth Vader.

He was originally the voice of DV too, but at the last minute Lucas decided to dub over him...probably where Lucas's huge trend of dubbing came from. He was even going to dub over 3PO's voice too, except Anthony Daniels got a little annoyed...

First of all, 5 minutes CAN be a lot of screen time, just like Vestril said. It doesn't have to be only one, 5 minutes long scene, but Lucas could show a bits of Vader here and there at the end of the movie: we see him perhaps dueling againts one or two of the remaining Jedi, talking to an officer commanding the troops, overseeing how army of stormtroopers takes out small group of rebels/Jedi and finally, contacting Emperor to report something like "everything is going according to your plans, my master".

I however have a feeling that Lucas will show Vader only as little as possible so that he is left intentionally mysterious for those who haven't seen original trilogy(and believe me, there are). He may convince us to believe that Anakin was killed completely, but then suddenly, Vader enters and people who don't know whole story, can't quite connect these two "different" characters together. Besides, original trilogy shows Vader much more in action, so Episode III just have to basically let us know he was Emperor's "surprise" and commanded the troops wiping out the remaining Jedi. That way the scene in ANH, where he enters Tantive IV after firefight, will look even more threatening.

I don't remember Hayden confirming that he will wear the suit(only guessing that he may have helmet), but instead he has asked about it from Lucas without getting any real answer yet. Also, I don't know how Lucas has planned to show parts of Vader's armour on different people as McCallum revealed in Celebration II, so perhaps Anakin may wear only cape, boots, glowes or something like that through the movie; at least it would make his transformation much more "subtle" when moving from Jedi costume(black leather vest) he had in AOTC to dark military outfit. I however agree with Vestril that when the final transformation is complete, it should be David Browse wearing the suit AND James Earl Jones voicing few lines. :D

Will be interesting to see how Vader is introduced in Episode 3, as to how they bring him in. Hopefully in his black suit, will walk out of some dark place, where all you can hear is the respirator in the mic's for his speech. Imagine that, an almost black screen, the breathing, the anticipation........

With ROTJ, we only know of Anakin for the last 5 minutes, there was barely any screen time for Sebastian Shaw as Vader. Will GL put in a scene right near the end to mirror ROTJ:SE, the erection of the Palpatine statue? We can only wait to see what Episode 3 throws up. My personal opinion sees no real big role for Vader in the closing scenes, but would be great to see the final scene having Vader slash someone, perhaps a Jedi - to show a little of the Jedi Purge - Mace Windu perhaps, then fade to black, end credits, and the Imperial March over the credits.

But then again, I am probably way off the mark

David P was promised a part in Episiode 3. But not as Darth Vader, and he didn't say on CBBC that he would be back he just responded to a question saying he would have to get in shape. David was an ex Mr universe (used to train Schwarzenegger), which is why he was picked for the part. His size was intimidating but his voice is west country, which sounds a bit dopey and slow.

If you are going through promises, before Episode 1 was made Mark Hamill was promised the part of the new Darth Vader in Episode 3 by George (who feels guilty about his accident and lack of work after Star Wars). Personally I think the Mark may be Darth in the second half of Episode 3 after he loses his battle with Obi One. His scars on his face would only add to the effect of a reconstructed man.

Basically only Lucas knows, and he's going to have to make a spectacular last flim.

I RESENT THAT COMMENT

they cant have much darthy cos they cant ruin the fact hes lukes father .... so they cant say that hes anakin skywalker as that would give away the connection between luke n darthy

david prowse recently had hip replacment surgery and doesnt walk well anymore

and he 60+

Yeah, I have heard about operations he had to go through in recent years(he even lost sense in his arm once or twice), but in reality he doesn't have to do anything really complicating.

You see, moviemaking is wonderful in that way, that they can take how many takes they want/need, so that Browse gets one move right, IF it's too difficult for him AND in post-production they can easily edit failed shots out and/or mix different shots of him together(I don't even mention what people at ILM can do). Lastly, there are also all those stunts hanging around sets(even Hayden had one in AOTC, but never needed him, because he wanted to do all his stunts by himself) who can perform too difficult moves(like dueling).

So, basically, they could only need Browse to walk a little bit and to "talk" to someone(which of course would make you wonder, why did they even hire him and not someone else who would have performed everything cheaper and easier). Everything else is magic. :D

If you are going through promises, before Episode 1 was made Mark Hamill was promised the part of the new Darth Vader in Episode 3 by George (who feels guilty about his accident and lack of work after Star Wars).

George Lucas NEVER promised Anakin's role to Mark when he was still writing TPM. I even remember Hamill saying in Later with Greg Kinnear(David Alan Grier was guest host in that specific episode) at the time of Special Edition premiere that it was only a rumour that some people came up and never was something he OR George would even consider. I guess, it was only an interesting idea then when we didn't even know yet that TPM would feature 9 year old Anakin.

Ok. I retract the Mark Hamill in EP3 comment. I was sure he was promised a part, but it was a while ago so I might have been picking up on the rumor thing. I'd like it if he was though, ah, never mind.

West country. Dopey. Live with it. Harsh, but fair. Plot spoiler? Get a grip on yourself young man.

I agree that David Prowse comment, could be played by anyone. But think of the PR, (husky voice) "see the original Darth Vader......for the first time"

Hmmm, or something a bit better than that. But you would feel more in touch with the movie, more connected.
