Official Soundtracks List (LEC's Adventures Only)

I've been searching and collecting official soundtracks for LEC's adventures for the last couple of years. My goal is to have all adventure-games soundtracks ever published.

What I now have is everything, as I believe, that was ever released. Please let me know if there's something that I'm not aware of.

Here's the list:

1. Loom Audio Drama CD -- altough not really a soundtrack, I consider it to be a part of this list. Sadly, I have a CD-R copy, and not the original CD. Still looking for the original CD version of Loom, with the Audio Drama CD.

2. The Gone Jackals / "Bone To Pick" -- All the music tracks used in Full Throttle (8 of them) plus some other (3). 11 tracks CD, published by Black Blue records. Altough not LucasArts but an independent records company released it, I consider it to be the Full Throttle soundtrack. Besides, it's written that it's the official soundtrack in Full Throttle's end credits.

3. Full Throttle Original Mini-Soundtrack -- official CD that was released by LucasArts, contains only 3 tracks from the above CD (Bone To Pick).

4. The Dig Soundtrack & CD-Rom Demo -- a 2CD set, now very hard to find. 11 tracks on the audio CD + a CD with games' demos. I have 2 original sets, and should have another one in a week.

5. Grim Fandango -- official dountrack CD that was released by LucasArts shortly after the game was. I purchased it from LEC's online store, luckily, couple of weeks before they removed it.

Let me know what you think, and whether there's something I miss in my collection.

Oh, and as I said earlier - I'm talking about adventures and official separate soundtrack CDs only, please don't add to the list other soundtracks, even if they are superior (Outlaws, for example) or red-books, like the Secret Of Monkey Island CD / Monkey Madness CD.

*Seeething with jealousy*

AS A MODERATOR I COMMAND THAT YOU GIVE ME YOUR SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION.

Hey, maybe they'll release a soundtrack CD as part of the celebrations! A compilation or something.

"20 years of great games - and great music. On this limited edition 2-CD set to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the LucasArts Entertainment Company, you can find great themes from Monkey Island! Loom! Day of the Tentacle! And more! Only $29.95, plus FREE shipping and handling!"

*sigh*

I wish they released something like that...

It seems that they're not aware of the commercial potential behind the "Official Soundtracks". Freaks like us love this stuff, but it's probably not suitable for the common consumers.

It appears that only lately they started to discover that it's probably a good idea (see the Grim Fandango example).

Damn, you know how many times fans asked for a CMI soundtrack? How many petitions were organized and sent to LEC? And to think that while you can extract all the music from the game CDs, people still wanted an 'official soundtrack'!

I hope LEC will start investing more in soundtracks...

By the way, you can also collect all these, (instead of commanding me to give you mine :) ) It is really hard to find some of them, but it's possible - I did. A year ago I had none of them, but now I have them all (besides the original Loom Audio Drama CD), and even 2 spare copies of The Dig Soundtrack.

And I suppose you suggested to rule out the Sam & Max bonus audio, and Monkey 1 CD edition's audio tracks when you said "no redbook stuff"

Yep :)

I have the Sam & Max 4 bonus audio tracks on the redbook CD version of the game, and the Monkey 1 redbook CD, so I ruled it out, as you said...

Does this mean that you'd be willing to part with one? I'd get one off Ebay, but they always have a "little drill hole" in them to show they're out of supply or something.

I have Loom on tape, but not the soundtrack. How I want those Loom CD's... both the talkie, and the audio drama (which, as I said, I have on tape) and the soundtrack. I can live without the Full Throttle ones, but I really want the Grim fandango one. However, as I live in UK it is only when people I know go to the USA that I can buy stuff from LEC.com, and they stopped selling the Grim CD about 2 months ago.

I agree about the commercial potential, too. All they need do is sell them from the site, not distribute them to HMV's the world over. They could even just make the designs, and whenever one was ordered print it off and voila - money in the bank. I resorted to making my own CD, but, as good as it is (I used a stomper to get CD art) it still doesn't compare to a professional one.

A year ago, I didn't have Loom, Maniac Mansion, Zak, Last Crusade or Full Throttle (in boxes, at least.) Now I have them all. So I can see how you managed to get them all, but well done all the same.

I'm a huge fan of LucasArts soundtracks too, have been for over a decade now, and I have all the ones you mentioned (except for the Full Throttle mini CD). The Loom Audio Drama came out on cassette before the CD premiere anyway, so I have the cassette version (and a bootleg CD version, just for convenience). I wish there was more of the music stuff around though, I guess the commercial viability of the soundtracks isn't that great after all, even with the dozen of us enthusiasts around. :p

Must be that one :) My impression is that I've seen it in many places, so maybe I remembered that there were many. But it's not the point, the point is that CMI is just an example, besides this petition, there were other tries for other games too, even if they were private emails to LucasArts.

(except for the Full Throttle mini CD)

I became aware of this one only a few weeks ago. Accidently bumped into it on eBay, and immediately bought it. I never imagined there was such...

eBay is the place where I bought my The Dig soundtracks. Actually, right to this point, there are currently 2 or 3 sales of this CD! It appears that, despite its rareness, eBay users sell it from time to time. I already bought 3, just in case I'd like to sell some later.

However, as I live in UK it is only when people I know go to the USA that I can buy stuff from LEC.com

I don't live in US either. I asked from friends of mine that were staying there to pick the CD up for me, after I purchased it.

The drill holes are usually on promo copies, ie. copies that are sent out to magazines or music stores for review purposes. The drill hole is there to make sure the review copy is not sold commercially. There's nothing to be afraid of, those copies often end up on Ebay since they can't be sold in conventional stores and are a great resource for a collector.
