Let's have an intelligent conversation...

You keep using this word "irony." I do not think it means what you think it means.

i·ro·ny Pronunciation Key (r-n, r-)

n. pl. i·ro·nies

The use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning.

An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between apparent and intended meaning.

A literary style employing such contrasts for humorous or rhetorical effect. See Synonyms at wit1.

Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs: “Hyde noted the irony of Ireland's copying the nation she most hated” (Richard Kain).

An occurrence, result, or circumstance notable for such incongruity. See Usage Note at ironic.

Dramatic irony.

Socratic irony.

Hey, Twins of Doom, hate to break it to ya, but aside from getting scholarships for college, high school doesn't mean s**t. As long as you get out with a passing grade and get into college, no one in the world after school (except your parents, of course) cares what you did in high school. I don't mean to sound harsh, just telling you what you're going to find out in 3 years, if not during the course of high school.

Sadly, on this forum, there are too many people who don't know how to make a reply without having to degrade the other person, ouldn't know how to be civil, or have some tact.

How can there be an intelligent conversation, when those that profess that they are intelligent don't have the manners to go along with it..............................................

I resent that remark, as I never deliberatly try to burn anyone. I make my comments, suggestions, and arguments without calling people names, or putting anyone down....

...except that Bungalow moron who thinks Dooku would have beat Yoda. But that's only because he keeps reposting it after he's been corrected...

[later edit]

...oh, and that wannabe who tried to impersonate me (the one who started this very thread, actually)...

[/later edit]

...besides, without the name-callers, we wouldn't have anyone to be talking about. :D

That's a good topic...

It's me again, was banned, back now. ;P

By the way, Kal-El, YOU should be banned too for being rude.

The "loser" and the "person who has no life" happens to be a normal guy, just like any other. He has friends (and girlfriends), he gets good grades in school, he doesn't really spend much time on the computer, doesn't get in trouble with his parents and he can spell properly. ;P

So, there you have it. Okay, I know there's no way I can prove all that. You're just gonna have to trust me. I know exactly what a computer nerd is, and I don't match that category.

The post I made was based on opinion, and wasn't actually directed to you (if you look closer) hehehe.

I don't recall about asking for your bio, but hey, if it makes you feel secure about yourself, then go ahead...

Why, Mr. BCumr3i5, what do manners have to do with intelligent conversations?;P

Pretty simple, if you are meant to be having an intelligent conversation, then obviously you are smart enough to respect the other persons opinion and don't use personal attacks against them for no reason.

To me, they go hand in hand, and if you don't think so, then you are sadly mistaken.

BCanr2d2, While i must admit that I do agree with you, It is not intrensic within the nature of an intelligent conversation that it be polite. "Intelligent conversation" simply encompasses the discussion of a subject which holds some level of intellectual merit. The politeness of said conversations is simply a frequent and generally expected coincidence.

That having been said, It's pretty tough [though still posible] to have an intelligent, yet ad homanym (sp?) conversation.

So, Darth Hacker, when you say "I'm back", are you the guy who was trying to be me, who started this thread, or are you just the second coming of Darth Hacker?

:ben::saberb:
